My last pool thermometer was fancier and wirelessly connected to a small tabletop monitor. What bothered me most was that it never accurately reflected the temperature. My priorities have changed, and hopefully, this thermometer will give me better readings. It is extremely sturdy and has an excellent price point.

So the last inexpensive one that I had didn't survive the desert heat. I let it float in the pool. So I put this one in the skimmer which of course has a cover to protect it from the intense sun. Our pool pump runs at low speed during the day so there is water always flowing across the thermometer. We can check the temperature every morning when we clean the basket. The display is large and easy to read. This arrived charged and I switched it from Centigrade to Fahrenheit with a simple button push on the underside. I did leave it in the sun for 6 hours and hopefully that fully charged it. I will see if it will still reads at the end of the summer. I did the ice bath test and it passed. In doing so I could verify that it did indeed update every 10 seconds. It measures approximately 7.5 inches high and 4.75 inches wide.

This looks pretty solid. There were several of this design, but this was the least expensive, so I gave it a try. It looks well made, and it is very large. The readout pane is big, too, which should help with seeing the temperature. My spouse can never see the temperature on our old one because you had to tilt it to see where the red line was. This is just a numeral readout, so this should be good for him. It's also solar powered, so no batteries! That's a huge bonus.

This is an awesome way to check your pool temperature without having to get wet (by dipping your hand or feet in the pool). I love that it's solar. I works as expected, no frills but exactly what I needed. Recommended!

I live in Central Texas. My water heater is in the attic. That's how they do it in this part of Texas. There are no basements. When taking a shower, the water that comes out of the showerhead can be extremely hot. There is no way to know in advance just how hot so play with the hot and cold faucets until the temperature seems cool enough to get under the showerhead. When taking a bath however, under ordinary circumstances I would also not know the temperature of the water in advance until now. I ordered this pool and spa temperature gauge to float in my bathtub. I cannot do this with shower water. No more scalding surprises. When the gauge shows the desired temperature, I get in. Recharging the device is not a problem. If I know I'm going to take a bath, I just set the thermometer outside in the sun for an hour or so beforehand if the display doesn't show any numbers when I turn it on.Why didn't someone think of an easy way like this of measuring the temperature of bathtub water a long time ago?

Our community pool is not heated and it is advisable to check the water temperature before jumping in. Therefore, I ordered this thermometer to measure the water temperature. Out of the box, the thermometer had a charge and displayed the temperature in Celsius. Just a touch of the button on the bottom and the display now shows the temperature in Fahrenheit. The display is large enough for me to see it without eyeglasses. Since ours is a community pool, it was necessary to anchor the thermometer to something. I chose the side of one of the ladders to anchor it. The included string is holding it in place just fine. I might eventually replaced the string with a cable tie for a more secure anchor.

So far I’m a big fan of this thermometer. It’s easy to read and dips a bit deeper into the water, which I think gives it a more accurate reading than the ones that float on the surface. I haven’t fully tested the claim that once charged it will work for a very long time, but I did leave it out in the sun for a number of hours and so far it’s going strong even in the dark of my cold plunge. I did find that I had to press the power button very firmly in order to get it to turn on. Originally, I even thought that it was defective and wouldn’t work. But now that it’s turned on and giving me the temperature, we can be friends. It’s great to have a digital read out that’s easy to see and doesn’t require pushing buttons or lifting out a thermometer to access.
