PERFORMANCE IN MOTION

There is no other point of contact on a bicycle where the transmission of power is higher than on the pedals. This is a good reason to take weight, quality, technique and performance into account when you buy pedals. If you want all this with an excellent performance ratio, Exustar is the solution. No matter if super light road racing pedals, solide and light MTB pedals of high quality city and trekking platform pedals – Exustar has the right pedal!

I’m impressed with these. Good width, I wear EE wide shoes and they fit great. My 45/46 pair weighs 1015 grams (just under 2.25 lb), just slightly heavier than my Lake mtb. shoes (950 grams). Easy to remove & reusable cleat covers. Mounted Time ATAC cleats, they clip in easily with no trimming. The cleats are slightly thicker than the lugs so you get a slight clicking when walking on hard surfaces though not that loud. The soles are adequately stiff for single track riding yet still comfortable when walking. Getting them on & off using just the back strap is easy. With the crazy heat we’re having this summer wish I had bought these sooner.

I will buy these sandals again. This was my first pair of cycling sandals and I was apprehensive about setting off from the Oregon coast on a 2 month tour with these as my only shoe. Now that the tour through Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa is over I do not regret using these sandals one bit. For rainy cold days I used a water proof / neoprene insulated sea to summit sock. My recollection is that I had cold feet only 3 days but never start to finish. Not even when it snowed and rained on me. For this tour I pedaled a 100+ lbs pannier laden bike. After 40 days which included going from the start at sea level many times over thousands of feet of climbing each day and eventually over the continental divide at 8500 feet, I had the dreaded rear wheel failure where my drive side spokes pulled through the rim, which I think is partly a testament to the power being applied to the pedals each day. Yet never did me feet hurt in these sandals.I highly recommend these sandals with socks. I do not find the footbed to my liking without thin socks. On 99% of my tour i wore thin “sock guys” socks.

I have problems with width. Years of shoes that were too narrow or just abusing my feet running left me with constant pain. Over the last couple of years I've started buying a size up and the widest shoes I can find - that has alleviated much of the foot pain. The velcro straps of these sandals allow me to adjust them quite a bit. I normally wear 11.5-12. I bought the 12.5-13.5 and they fit very well. With winter being here, I've mainly been using them for spin class and they seem great - very solid, heavy construction. I also got these because I do multi-day tours in the warmer weather and I think these will make a great replacement for my cleated shoes for the rainy days I invariably encounter. I also like the fact that there is material in the front toe area to protect my foot. I've only had them for a couple of weeks but so far, so good. As long as they hold up, I'll be a very happy customer.Update: I've had the shoes for a couple of months now. I'm still only using them for spin classes 3-4 times per week until warmer weather hits. They have been great. Solid construction, nice and wide, comfortable and ability to be adjusted. I am very happy with this shoe.

I initially wore these to walk the dog to make sure they fit and felt good. Now after several rides at training pace on both my touring and mountain bikes, I can say that I love these. I found them stable and giving a good power transfer to the pedals for casual biking shoes. Longest ride has been in excess of 60 miles on the touring bike with substantial climbs. I love feeling the air on my feet as I ride These are not race shoes, but I find myself considering changing my race bike pedals to SPD so I can use these on training rides. The 43/44 size was perfect for me as I wear size 44 race shoes and size 10 hiking shoes. The ability to adjust or totally release the ankle strap is a real plus. The ONLY (and it's minor) shortcoming for me is the furthest forward strap overlaps its Velcro anchor pad a little when pulled tight. However, it tightens enough for me and has never come loose. One of my best bike accessory purchases.

I have tried most of them out there including Lake, Keen and Shimano and I like the Exustar the best. Extremely well made, lots of ventilation, very comfy and a great value at $80. Exustar also makes the Ragster II sandals from Nashbar but they lack the third velcro strap and I do notice a difference especially when unclipping since the extra strap creates less play between my foot and the sandal. The Keen Commuter IIIs are definitely an improvement over their previous models but cost a lot and the narrow Velcro strap across the top of my foot was uncomfortable. Plus they have way too much coverage and you might as well be wearing a shoe. The Shimanos were painful to wear after an hour or so. I mean they really hurt the bottoms of my feet. I thought it was just me but came across others expressing the same sort of issue.I use these for commuting but they are really great for touring. Any sandal is better for touring than a shoe. Nothing feels better then the air between your toes when it is warm. When it's cooler, throw on a sock. A good merino wool soak will actually insulate more in a sandal than in a shoe since it won't be compressed. When it's cold and rainy, a sock and an over booty. When it's really cold and or rainy, a sock, seal skinz, then over booty. Also, when sandals do get wet, they dry quickly since they won't get saturated like a shoe. Get your shoes soaked on a tour and they will stay wet until either the weather changes or you find a dryer.Great sandal and great price. I would gladly pay $120 for these (price for the Keens) if I had to.
