Our water in this small very rurual Montana town is horrible. It is impossible for me to taste it without gagging, even if I don't know beforehand what I'm drinking. Per official government water quality reports, it also has a lot of radon. My own pipes are old, so there's a lead issue as well (I suspect). This device effectively filtered the water so I can drink it, and makes decent coffee and tea. By itself, the water still has a bit of water softener taste/texture, but it's OK. This doesn't filter that out. I called the company with numerous questions before I used it, and Dave was extremely helpful and patient. I was concerned that the diverter tab had to be manually held while I was dispensing water -- which is supposed to be done for 10 minutes to flush it out before the first use -- and I couldn't hold it that long. He explained that 2 to 3 minutes of flushing was probably sufficient, and furthermore if the diverter tab continued to require manual holding, he would send a replacement if needed. It eventually turned out that after the unit was broken in, the diverter tab stayed pulled out during dispensing without being held. Actually, the 2 to 3 minute flush was not sufficient -- I did several of those over a couple of days -- and there was still a small amount of charcoal-looking residue in the bottom of my cup. I subsequently did a 10-minute flush, and the dispensed water now appears completely clear. I've made soup with it as well as hot beverages. My purpose in buying this was so I could stop going to a grocery store 35 miles away with an inside water vending machine where I'd been filling up jugs every couple of weeks. Dave said the filtered water from this unit was the equivalent of those grocery store dispensers. Not quite -- the grocery store's vended water still tastes better -- but this home filtering system is good enough. And I can avoid trips to the store! I've also ordered a Berkey travel unit as a backup. It hasn't arrived yet, but I will post a comparison once I try it. I highly recommend this product, and the seller.

This is a great water filter to remove the chlorine smell. The quantity claimed is quite huge as compared to other commonly available water filters that might need frequent filter changing. The connectivity of the pipes requires few tools and basic plumbing experience of using the tools and connecting the pipes. This might not be big if you are having the correct type of tools (Wrench). To remove the smell of chlorine and other unwanted minerals, the flow of water needs to be controlled to a slow pace. Here comes the first problem. Due to the low water pressure, the locking mechanism needs to be held by hand and doesnt stay there if left. This is ok if the quantity of water needed is less but could become a hassle if 5 gallons of water needs to be filled. The other feature that would be preferred and has been commented by other customers is the lack of indicator. As the requirement of each individual house is different and the usage may differ, we would never know if we have crossed the mentioned 10000 gallons limit. If a family of 4 people consume about 3 gallon per day then it would be about 3333 days that would be about 9 years, which is huge. But if the water consumption is about 4 gallons per day, it goes to about 6 years. But for people to know the quality of filter, there is no indicator anywhere. It becomes hard to keep track of the usage of the filter. The filter is not replaceable and the whole container is concealed. This kind of scares when we cross a 5 year limit. But overall, this is a really good filter for the price and duration of use.

A super-great product that isn't apparently backed up by any one.Easy to install.Flow rate amazing.Months later, still working and filtering.I thought the countertop approach would be bad, but it turns out to be way more convenient than a purely spout-based model - now the nozzle has the clearance to fill large containers, such as gallon containers and pasta pots. The flavor isn't *stellar* (we don't have great tasting tap water though) but is as good as any I've gotten from Brita, or Pure2o at an *amazing* flow rate.So it works and well. But SUPPORT has been UNRESPONSIVE - and I'm not even in the 'give me my money back' or 'support under warranty please' zoneI'm a Nevada resident and possibly use the same water system that Henderson-based Lake Industries accesses.I called in and was told to email the tech "david".I asked about hose dimensions (both to lengthen and if it needed replacement because it isn't a reinforced hose, and if I could replace current hose with reinforced etc.) and about how long I can expect the unit to work (since we're both likely on the same water system).Three emails and over a month later, still no response. If I ever get a response, Amazon will be the second to know.---Updated 8 March 2020Whilst I've not received a response from support, even after trying 5 times in the past 11 months, I've changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars. Because it works and has been working like a champion. That being said, I do expect that if you experience a problem, you're S.O.L. -- all I wanted was advice on getting measurements to make a more durable connection between valve and unit, and no one ever got back to me.Water flavor is still well within the range of acceptable (I figure we've used 660 gallons of pretty harsh tap water), flow rate is still amazing. Valve works and hose (my early fear) is still hosing.Updated April 2025I don't remember when I moved but the water filter lasted at least 24 months/two years (2019-2021+) and only required maintenance once (unscrew and clean faucet connector due to mineralization from the nasty city water) and not due to any fault of the filter.Needing a different waser filter in a different place (much cleaner municipal water), I ordered a new one in April 2023, and two years later even the new one is still running, with zero maintenance. I ordered yet another one (it is made in China) to store, 'cause tariffs, and upgraded this rating to five stars.I still never got an email back from the company's customer service though!
