I don't know if there is a factory tow hitch for VW jettas but this one looks like it is. Fits nice and sits as high as it possibly can. Only drawback is that i used to reverse into parking stalls and backup over the curb, now sometimes the bottom of the hitch will scrape especially when loaded with people. Not a big deal, just something to note. I do a fair amount of projects and this one was super easy to install. Instructions were short and simple and even the novice DIYer can get this done with minimal tools. Only other thing to consider is trailer wiring harness. Wasn't a problem for me but some weekend warriors may need to outsource this

Easy to install. The instructions were very helpful. The suggestion of dropping the muffler down to provide access to drill holes was so helpful. At first, it seemed difficult to do, but just two bolts removed and the muffler dropped about 6 inches. The hitch is built very well. The weakness is the availability of mounting locations on the Jetta. But Curt designers did a wonderful job with what they had available on the Jetta. After mounting, I picked up my Champion 27 Log Splitter from Home Depot and towed it home. The hitch worked great. After towing I checked all the mounts and everything was rock solid.

Installed this on a mk4 GLI without trimming anything. Supposed to be for a mk4 Jetta wagon but will work if your looking for a hitch for your gli without cutting anything!

Installed on a 04 VW jetta TDI station wagon. This hitch is held on by 6 bolts only one of which uses an existing hole, the other 5 have to be drilled. The 4 on one side together are much easier to do if you go a head and drop the rear section of the exhaust. So far I've only used it with a 1up usa bike rack without any issues.
