First time I've installed a hitch using wires to pull bolt through. It was easier than I expected but hitch does press up against the bumper a bit. By far the nicest hitch I've found for a 2015 Crosstrek as I prefer the cut steel chain holes versus the welded rod loops. My hitch did arrive with a hefty scratch in it, but I already had plans to coat mine with 3M underbody coating. It nicely accents the matte looking trim on the XV's and will protect it better from rust and salt. Best part of that is that I can also touch it up easily as well. Hitch was well priced, comes with everything needed to install and use, and looks great. Hardest part of installation was removing the exhaust hangers, I quickly learned that spraying the hanger rods with silicone spray or adding a little grease to them makes this a much easier task.

I ordered this hitch for my 2015 Subaru Crosstrek Premium because you dont need to remove the bumper cover. Many of the hitches including OEM Subaru requires removal of your bumper. I installed this Curt Hitch by myself with no issues at all. I drilled a 3/8" hole next to the insertion hole in the frame and it worked perfectly. No need to cut the hole with a grinder. Very easy installation! took me 35 minutes by myself. Highly recommended!

The hitch itself seems very nice - stock is quite heavy, welds are very clean, and finish looks quite good. the mounting setup, however, is a bit frustrating. the stock holes in the Subaru subframe are quite large (~1"+) even before you have to cut them larger, so the 4 carriage bolts (two of them 7/6", the others 1/2") have to hang through the chunks of steel plate they provide to spread out the weight onto enough of the frame rails to hold the load. It's unavoidable unless someone were to remove the bumper and have a better way to fit larger bolts, and it's probably fine in the long run, but it's a bit too much like a shortcut for something so important and just feels a bit unsavory in engineering terms.

Note: the cutout in the bumper of the Crosstrek is not for a hitch. On some models (e.g. european) it holds a tail light. For the install, I wrapped small strips of duct tape to the bolts and then to the frame to prevent pushing the bolts back inside the holes when I positioned the hitch. I held the hitch up with 4x4s and a floor jack while connecting the nuts to the bolts. Once I got them started, I pulled off the tape.Hope this helps.

Installed on My 2014 Impreza, I used a pair of pliers to open the hole up a little to get the bolt through. I wouldn't bother with the angle grinder like they say in the instructions. The fish wire is awesome as it screws onto the bolts, I ended up using the fish wire for my wiring kit too as I had to run a power wire from the rear of the vehicle all the way to the battery. Great kit, easy to install, and there is some play in the bolt holes so you don't have to worry about tolerances.

Looks good and fits perfectly. Works great with a Swagman 63360 bike carrier.Took me about 1 hour to install by myself. Instructions are fairly clear, but a couple pointers will help. You must enlarge a couple holes in the frame (the biggest ones) so the bolts and spacers will fit through. That scared me at first, but I used a round file to oblong the holes - took only a couple minutes. Fish the passenger side bolts through first and leave the fish wires attached so there is no chance of the bolts getting pushed back into the frame. Prop the hitch in place with a few 2x4's or similar. Remove the fish wires and carefully thread the nuts on loosely (don't tighten yet). Now, let the hitch drop a little on the other driver side, and repeat the above procedure. Square up the assembly and tighten per specifications. I'm just using as a bike carrier, so I didn't do any wiring.

Bought this for my new Impreza Sport Wagon, and the shop I used said it took only 20 minutes to install. I was a little confused about the fish wires, plus needed the local shop to install the wiring kit. Looks good and is out of the way.

The important thing about these hitches is that they fit the car they were designed for. We installed this on a 2012 Subaru Impreza 5dr Wagon. This time I had out mechanic bolt it on since they have a lift. Took them 1 hour.
