My husband bought this for his zero turn John Deere. On day 31 of it being on the mower, it became so hot that the mower could have very easily caught fire. Unfortunately it has a 30 day return policy. I've reached out to the company with no reply.

The starter went out on my 2011 John Deere Z445 Zero-turn mower. The engine is a Kawasaki FH721V. I had called local John Deere service to get it picked up and the starter replaced. They told me that they were backed up 3 weeks and it would be $500 to replace! With the help of some neighbors, we tore into it. We replaced the starter with this unit and it works great! A little hard to get to, but workable. Take it slow and document with pictures as you go.

Fit perfectly, performed flawlessly. Really does turn the engine fast. As far as longevity? Unknown at his time - I will update this post in a few months. But I was impressed with the starter right out of the box. DO NOT pay John Deere $250 for a starter. This fits and so far has performed well.March 2024 - used it all last summer and the starter is still working well! I’ll post again if any problems arise.
