This didn't work well. Ended up using a Delta Diamond Ripper which worked very well. Both on an angle grinder.

This bit works as it should but, there is an awful lot of dust created when you use it. I highly recommend using it outdoors if possible.

I've been dreading do do my huge project in repointing my brick house. It's been at least 50 years since the last time anyone has touched it and after seeing this tool bit, It hasn't been as difficult as I imagined. Still tedious and messy but at least it's going faster than I thought it would. The diamond bit cuts through the mortar like butter. I go through each brick in literally a few seconds and it's prepped for the new mortar to be inserted in. I've already done approximately 200 sq. ft and and bit still runs like new.

I used this with an SDS Plus adapter into my heavy drill. The bit is thin enough to get into narrow mortar joints and long enough to reach to the back of the brick and still be able to see what you are doing. You need to pay attention when you are getting started on a joint especially if the mortar is almost flush with the face of the brick - the bit can walk out of the join and across the face of the brick. Starting in the deepest available part of the joint helps, then you can angle from there. This bit does not cut very fast but is much neater than using a blade in an angle grinder and damaging the face of the bricks around the joint. I would not want to have to do a large area, but for the vertical joints on a few bricks it works well. My recommendation is to use a grinding wheel in an angle grinder for the horizontal lines or wherever you can get away with it and use this bit for the vertical sections and corners where the blade cannot go without damaging bricks.I also tried it for something that it is not recommended - just because I had it handy and already chucked into my drill - I used it to smooth the edge of a broken porcelain tile and it did an ok job of it.The bit did not show any evidence of wear after 1 brick and my quick tile test.If you need to get mortar out of a vertical joint without damaging nearby bricks this is the right tool - only reason for dropping a star is the slow cutting speed.

Nice size bit, will not work with your drill unless you have the proper connection. Make sure your ordering it for the correct tool.
