This is a great little light for a smaller terrarium and a good way to keep your critters happy. It's well-built and made out of a durable material that should stand up well to the environment in or around most terrariums. The one I have is the 8-inch model, and for its size, it is pretty bright. I don't think it's big enough for larger setups, but for some of the smaller setups, it will work perfectly to create a nice basking spot. The multiple modes also allow you to modify the light to suit what your pet needs. Being able to do both UVA and UVB is imperative for the health of your pet. It says it has a 24-hour intelligent cycle, but from what I can tell, it is just a basic timer that turns on and off the light with the settings you have chosen. It would be nice if you could program different light cycles for certain hours, especially if you could have a day and night mode, but unless I'm missing something, this doesn't appear to be possible. The timer does make it easier to set up, though, and keeps your pet on a nice rhythm that simulates nature more closely. So far, I've been happy with this light, and its adjustability and long runtime make it an easy choice for setup. As a caution, though, at full power, it does run hot, so be sure it has the proper ventilation around it.WHAT I LIKED:• Well made• Compact and easy to set up• Multiple light modes• Programmable timerWHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:• Timer is on and off. Being able to adjust light modes as well as time would make this a much more efficient light.

As with any UVA/B lighting, always make sure you are setting this at the correct height for your pet so they have a good UVI gradient in their little home (if you don't know what this is, there are plenty of charts online to help you determine the right distance for your pet). With our setup, this light needed to be set at 12-14inches high. Now that that's out of the way, this light seems to be made well and hopefully it lasts a good while (UVA/B lights will loose their power after "X" amount of time so you need to check on them, even LED based lights). There is multiple light modes you can change between from UVB only to light + UVB combo at the same time. It can also dim from lower light to brighter light as well. There is also included springs to hang this from the inside top lid of your pet's enclosure for easier setup (I've found you can pull the springs some to make them hang lower if needed, just gently/slowly stretch them out so you don't overdue it).The build quality is nice and the LEDs appear to be higher quality than others I've seen (just from visual inspection of it). The power cord is a good length and easily reaches to my timer outlet. We've only been using this a week so far but if any issues come from it sooner than it should, I'll make sure to update this review.

Well I got this as an experiment to see how well the reptile related UV lights will work in the context of the saltwater aquarium world first as a refugium light/macro algae tank light and then if that does the trick how well could it do for a reef tank display softie if it’ll work with the fuge you know it’ll do softies but how’s about with LPS and really forgiving SPS these types of lights are far more available than dedicated reef lights and generally far less expensive granted it’s not submersible however as an option for newcomers in the hobby considering things like dedicated hang off the back refugiums like the Aquamaxx-Aquaready HOB-R with something small and cheep like the Tunze and the plug in timer is pushing 300$ Canadian after tax add a good clean source of macroalgea (I’ve had the best luck with dragons breath/tongue the red leafy stuff that grows in a Pom Pom like ball) puts you right in that range granted aside from very minor. Canopy modification along the rear and a slight modification to the filter sponges it IS literally a drop in upgrade to the Fluval Flex 32.5 you won’t find that info anywhere else on the internet unless you find another of my posts/reviews mentioning it it took some time to dial it in but I’ve never had my tank look this good and not done a water change in over 2 months I’m currently working on setting up a second system so my experiment is a good 6-12 months away still before I get everything set up and running and know for sure exactly if and how well it will work however on its own it arrived well packaged completely functional and exactas advertised so it definitely does the thing it was designed for now let’s see if it’ll work for some oddball stuff lol

I have put this one in my turtle tank on the outside of the metal protective screen to keep it away from a splash zone just above the backing area with a separate heat lamp. I would love to have one about 16" long but does not seem they have one although this should be fine. I have tried switching from T8's to T5's with no luck having them all malfunction within months so now I am trying LED's. I am a little confused, does it have 3 modes or 4 modes (and that last mode "dark" is that just off?). It seems just 3...purple=UVB, White + just LED light and lastly both. I don't have myself a UVB meter to check the quality of light...that I put faith in the manufacturer (maybe I should get one) so what is surprising to me is there is no data or graphs pertaining to the effectiveness of this light. The other thing is I prefer to have all my lights on timers (2 turtle tanks and a lizard habitat) with this I cannot use my timers as it has a built in 4,6,8 hour time frame so it is not consistent with my other tanks...not a big deal, I may rewire it and remove the timer portion if It bothers me. So far seems good, only time will tell.

This UVB lamp has seriously upgraded my little guy’s terrarium setup. The light quality is bright without being harsh, and the ability to adjust timing and intensity is chef’s kiss—it makes it feel like he’s basking in real sunlight (without me having to remember to turn it on and off like a lizard butler).I also appreciate that it’s energy efficient and built to last. My bearded dragon’s health seems better already—more active and way less grumpy in the mornings. Plus, with four modes and timing options, it’s super customizable depending on your reptile’s vibe. Would definitely recommend if you want to give your scaly pal the sunbathing session they deserve!

Provides perfect lighting conditions for my yellow headed gecko enclosure and the plants within. That being said my only issue which I will address right off the bat is that the top of the assembly gets so hot I can't even touch it (I can handle heat really well) which is really surprising for me being that it's a LED type assembly and none of that heat is directed into the enclosure. Thus far though the only issue is that I can't move it or place it down somewhere without having to wait for it to cool down and also meaning I can't place it in certain areas or anywhere else but an open top shelf. It's a very sturdy and well built design and honestly feels like it will last a long time not only hours wise but if I need to move it and pack it up or accidentally drop it.Functionally it's super easy to set up and program as the display tells all you need to know, I have it set up on a 12 hour rotation and like clockwork it's on when it's supposed to be and off in kind. It's size makes it easy to place on varying sizes of enclosures without sacrificing light distribution. In general this is a great item for the value with the only down side being the prior mentioned heat that comes from the top.

I got the smallest size so my little Caulker Caye boa wouldn't get too much UVB. As you can see from the pictures it gives good UVB as read by the solarmeter. Those were taken directly under it. Outside of being directly under it there wasn't too much surrounding UVB though. I put it on top of the mesh so those readings are lower than if it was inside the enclosure. This was also at the highest brightness. It comes in 5 levels of brightness and you can pick between all white light, all purple, or a combo as seen in the pictures. Time will be the test of durability. Not sure about value for money because it's so subjective. Definitely functional but like I said it doesn't have a good range of UVB like a long T5 light tube would. It comes in bigger sizes but I like that there are smaller sizes available. Very easy to use just plug it in and click on the settings you want. It has timer options which is awesome because I don't have to plug it into a timer plug. Overall it's nice to have for smaller enclosures. I'll have to play with the settings more to get it just right for Cupid's enclosure. Those readings will cook him if he stays directly under it. Lower UVB settings aren't going to provide a whole lot of lighting even if the UVB is okay.

I am pretty impressed with this lizard light. I was shopping for one a few months ago and all I found was big bell shaped lights with a loop on top that would connect to a big metal-arm thing that anchors to the ground, or maybe the cage itself. Bulky in any case. This is a nice lightweight self contained unit that has 8 watts of power...about equal to a 60Watt bulb LED replacement. It is decently bright and has multiple levels of brightness. Still, I would have liked to have a bit more max brightness in case of a larger cage, but they do sell a bigger unit if needed as well as a smaller one.Part of the power is diverted to several near-UV purpleish LEDs which provide more low end spectrum lighting which supposedly helps with calcium synthesis. This gets debated online but you can always toggle those LEDs off.The lighting is nice and floody and fills the cage nicely without any light escaping on the sides and getting in your eyes... which is why the bell-shaped fixtures are so big to prevent light leakage since even a PAR38 will have some visible light when seen from the sides. You can see the diffusion of the light in my pictures. The unit is lightweight and can be attached on top of the cage or underneath. To facilitate this, they give you two springs with holes on both ends of the device that you can use to attach to the cage which is expected to have a mesh top. This is what I used and seems to work fine. You might consider small zip ties also which would be more secure but might not look as nice. If you look at the top picture you can see the spring attachment. If you already have a lighting fixture which is likely, consider getting this anyways as a light source and you can replace your PAR38 bulb or whatever with a ceramic heating bulb that can be on 24 hours to provide extra warmth. This was my plan, as my heating pad underneath gets blocked somewhat by the floor material of the cage. The light also has a 4,8,12 hour timer option which I like. I think they should have added a 16 hour one though, but the 12 is probably fine.Bottom line I really like this light and think it is a great option for a gecko or similar.
