This tool made it a breeze to push the piston calipers back with no effort.

This is a heavy duty tool. I haven't had to change my brakes yet to try it out. It moves smoothly. I don't know how much force will be needed to squeeze the handles. That is my only concern. I usually use a clamp to do this, which is awkward. So, maybe the handles could be a little longer to help reduce the force needed.

Honestly, I didn't even know this type of brake caliper compressor existed. I currently have the basic, hand clamp style, which has taken quite a beating. When this item arrived, promptly and packed securely in a box, I was stunned at the size and durability of it. It is quite literally the definition of "heavy-duty" when compared with the basic style. Please see the second pic, comparing this item and the basic caliper compressor. You'll note the significant size difference and the increase in width/thickness of the components of this item verse my other. Importantly, you'll see the damage to multiple places on my original item, which this compressor will likely prevent based on how this product function. Now, I have only used this one one brake job (front set), but it performed flawlessly. The piston end did not walk around the caliper as I was compressing it and no part of the tool got caught or hung up on itself as it compressed the caliper. When I was done, it released pressure with the thumb tab with minimal effort. Overall, I'm incredibly happy with this product and assuming it continues to function as it did yesterday, will likely never revert back to the basic style caliper compressor.
