So, I got this Arblina dog muzzle for my one-year-old Great Dane, Philo. Let me preface this by saying Philo is... enthusiastic. Like, possibly powered by rocket fuel and pure chaos. He's awesome, but stillness isn't exactly his forte. The muzzle itself? It looks pretty decent. The mesh seems soft, it's got reflective bits (good for our nighttime adventures, assuming we ever get it on), and it feels lightweight. Seems like a perfectly reasonable piece of equipment for a, shall we say, more cooperative canine citizen. Here's the rub: putting it on. Compared to some simpler slip-on styles I've tried, this one requires a bit more finesse and time with its adjustments and connection points. Which would be fine, if I had more than the approximately 20-second window of opportunity Philo grants me between "blissfully asleep" and "full-throttle zoomie tornado mode." Seriously, I try to ninja-sneak it on him when he's crashed out, but by the time I'm figuring out which strap goes where, his internal alarm clock goes off, and suddenly we're playing a rousing game of "Catch Me If You Can" featuring 100+ lbs of pure, unadulterated puppy power. I swear, the dog might be from Krypton. So, while the muzzle seems like it could be a good product for a dog who allows you a moment to breathe and buckle, it's proving tricky for my particular land-shark. I haven't actually managed to successfully get it fully secured on him yet.For that reason – the less-than-lightning-fast application process which is a critical factor when dealing with a furry lightning bolt – I'm docking one star for now. It's not necessarily the muzzle's fault it hasn't met Philo's warp-speed requirements, but it's not quite meeting our needs right now due to the time factor. If, by some miracle or act of doggy Zen, I manage to get him to hold still long enough to get it fitted properly and see how it works in action, I'll definitely come back and update this review. But for now, potential buyers with high-energy, low-patience pups, consider your dog's "cooperation window" before purchasing!

It doesn’t come completely assembled and the instructions are confusing. I have not been able to finish putting it together . If they’d completely assembled it I imagine I would like it. But right now I don’t.

I got this muzzle for my dog, because he is definitely a fear reactive dog towards other dogs. The muzzle I have currently is one of the style that is open on the end. It is more narrow than I like to keep him from opening his jaw, and gives him trouble breathing through his mouth. Not a fan of the open end on that either, since he could still nip if he was determined.I like very much that this muzzle definitely lets him breathe more than anything. I also am happy that I don't have to worry about him nipping someone, because the mesh is between him and the other dog. It is a little finicky to get on at times. Once it is on, between basically a collar strap to make sure the entire thing doesn't fall off, and the 3 strap setup, it feels secure enough, at least for him. Properly loosened to size, he didn't seem to be able to get it off.The issue I have is despite measuring for my dog correctly (or so I thought), the mesh is too close to the end of his nose than I want. There is a fine balance between "secure" and "rubs on the end of his nose". I can't seem to get it to be both secure, and not rub his nose at the same time. I'm afraid the mesh will end up basically becoming a nose cheese grater if it sees prolonged use during the day. Either I mistakenly ordered a size too small and needed a size up, or the mesh should be a bit longer to prevent most of the nose rubbing. I also wouldn't have minded the silver side wall lines connecting the mesh to have some sort of bendability to them, such as a wire core to better shape the muzzle.Overall, I don't think it is a bad muzzle but it feels like there is some room for improvement. The design itself has merit. I do wish I had ordered a size up, but the fault is with me on that one.

-The sizing was spot on. Sizing was my biggest concern when I ordered this item, but I went by the measurement chart and was very pleased with the results.-My dog seemed to be fairly comfortable in this. Obviously she'd rather not wear it, but she was able to breathe, open her mouth a little bit, etc.-I didn't believe that she would ever drink with the muzzle on, but she actually did.-It's tricky to put on, but you start getting the hang of it after a few times.-My main complaint is the strap that goes on top of the head. That part was difficult to adjust and the little plastic piece that you thread it through could definitely be more robust. This is a big weakness of the design. My dog was able to take off the muzzle if I left her alone too long without supervision, and this strap is the reason why.-Overall, it's good for the price and I'm glad I have it. She definitely preferred the muzzle over the cone, and I was able to let her wear the muzzle when I was around to keep an eye on her. As long as you want to use this when you are able to supervise your dog, then I think you'll be happy with the product.
