I'm torn about this chain lock - while I really like that it provides extra security and can't easily be defeated from the outside, I ultimately decided not to install it on my front door. The reason being that it requires a key to open it, and that's an issue in case anyone needed to get out of the house quickly (eg. in a fire situation). I have instead put it on my garage door - that's not an emergency exit for our house, and since it is close to the front door, we would naturally choose the other door as an exit in case of an emergency. I do like the pewter finish and the quality of the product. The screws are a bit short, but the reality is that this is a deterrent device, not a failsafe.

It was affordable and easy to install plus it keeps my mom safe. I'm currently in the process of dementia-proofing my house and it keeps her from wandering off.

This door chain is a well made item that comes with the mounting hardware.It looks great, and has caps to cover the screws.The way this works is great for preventing someone from lifting the chain using some sort of tool, but keep in mind that the chain can't be removed without the key, so it might end up locking someone in as well.

There isn’t too much to say about this - I would say definitely get longer screws for security - but it does what it’s supposed and is easy to install.

This is terrible !!! it is very weak. The screws are too short they fall right out of the wall if you try ti open your door with it on! I don’t even write reviews but PLEASE don’t waste your money

This chain lock is really solid and of great quality. The parts that matter are all stainless steel, and there's a nice black ABS shell around them. They even include screw covers to match the black finish, which is a nice detail. The chain and metal parts are a dark charcoal colour, so they blend in nicely with black accents and don’t stand out too much.A couple of things to keep in mind: even though the listing says it’s for doors, the instructions and extras make it clear it’s actually designed for casement (crank) windows. That makes sense because it works really well for windows or similar setups (though there are prettier options). You can use it on doors, but since it needs a key to lock or unlock the chain to prevent it from opening from outside, it might not be the best idea for emergencies, as you’d need to grab the key to get out. That could also apply to windows if they’re your only escape option, so it’s something to plan for.Altogether, this is a great lock. Unlike most other chain locks, once it’s secured, there’s no way to open it from the outside. Just keep the key situation in mind, and it’s a solid choice for adding some extra security.

This door chain lock has heavy duty chain with strong strength that can hold the door or window in place with limited openings to maintain the venting with a good maintenance of the safety. It can effectively avoid the small kids from falling off from the window. For wind door, it can hold the door against the strong wind to avoid the damage of the glass from hitting on the wall. The silver chain looks pretty good with the white door compared to the dark iron chains. Very useful and stylish.
