I bought this as it was company I had heard of and it was an established parts supplier. It was less than 1/2 the price of the FORD OEM Part so I wanted to give it a try. Do not buy. Brake controller would never recognized a trailer was connected. It also cause trailer connected/disconnected message over and over and over, it never stopped. When trying to adjust the gain, it also would say no trailer connected.If you are interested in adding a OEM Brake Controller go with the true FORD part. After swapping the Dorman with the Ford brake controller everything worked as it should. Gain controllers, trailer connected, and no error codes on the dash. Save yourself the hassle and go buy the FORD controller.

I installed this item and performed the steps to activate the trailer brake controller features in my 2019 F-150 using FORScan successfully. When I finally connected a trailer and tested out the trailer brake controller, I received ‘trailer disconnected’ notifications on my truck’s display. I received this notification every time I adjusted the gain value, when using the sliding braking button on the unit, and when driving over rough road that rattled the truck. The trailer brakes did actually work, and if it weren’t for the notification messages, I would say this unit worked perfectly. I would also add that the housing of this module could be constructed better since the face would separate from the rest of the unit when I needed to remove it from the truck.
