It does a good job on knives. I haven't tried it on anything else yet.

Not as fast as desired. Used dsame type in past and recall they worked better. May revert back to wet stone sharpening.

For just $10, I sure don't expect it will last too too long, but I just sharpened all 10 of my stainless steel kitchen knives, three butcher knives, and my cold rolled steel handmade pocket knife. All were extremely dull and haven't been taken care of in about a year or more. The whole process of redoing perfect edges on all of these knives took less than 20 minutes. In fact, I accidentally cut myself twice on two of the knives lol when barely touching their edges. Super excellent product for just $10. Even if it is from china, you got to get it! Shipping took less than a week coming to me living here in Gainesville Florida.

This diamond plate is used dry to sharpen knives and other edged tools. Over the past couple of years I've been using a water stone to for sharpening, which is far less convenient, but is capable of producing a very fine edge. This diamond plate includes a 400 grit side and a 1000 grit side. On first use at least each of the two sides seemed to have coarser grit than labeled, but perhaps the grit wears down after initial use. By contrast my waterstone has a 1000 grit and 6000 grit sides. Perhaps because I'm used to sharpening with the much finer grit waterstone this diamond plate felt very aggressive. Even on badly dulled chisels the 400 grit diamond plate seemed quite aggressive. I'd never sharpen good knives with the 400 grit plate. Many similar diamond plates are available on Amazon, but this set includes a couple of extras that see on few other sets. These include a plastic base to hold the plate in place during use and a clear cover for the base to use when the plate is being stored.
