Well made. Blocks are very small. Need to use soil that sticks like clay. Dimples for seeds could be much deeper

I have both this 3/4” soil blocker and a 2” blocker, and let me tell you—these two tools work together perfectly. The 3/4” blocks are designed for starting seeds, and when your seedlings are ready to move up, they fit seamlessly into the divot of the 2” block. Or, if you want to skip a step, you can do what I did—sow directly into the 2” cube and use a 3/4” block as a "plug" topper to complete the planting. No more folding seedling pots out of newspaper, no more buying plastic starter trays or coir starter pellets. All you need is a mixing container for your soil and a receiving tray for your blocks. That’s it. It couldn’t be easier.Of course, there’s an art to getting the moisture content just right—not too dry, not too wet—to form sturdy, well-shaped blocks. But once you get the feel for it, it’s pure magic. My degree in mud pie bakery from age five is finally paying off!Bonus: Each tiny 3/4” square is individually divided, and Dear Husband says they look like brownies. Happy to report that I’ve successfully kept him from eating them—but our seedlings? Very happy. From bagged soil to block forms to seedlings to garden bed, this system is an incredible money and time saver—and quite possibly the best gardening upgrade I’ve ever made.

Broken in less than 200 presses. Machine mechanism is fine. Very weak soldering on a critical point has rendered it ineffective because the plate no longer springs back. Leaves soil block tops ill-formed.

The cubes of dirt it makes, are not 3/4". They are 5/8" at best.Something was lost in the metric / imperial conversion 😄.The metal cage is solid , but the welds are somewhat rough and not great quality in the finish. The edges are not very well deburred so they are a little more sharp than you would've expect. With that say, the mechanism is very simple and it works smoothly. It will last forever. My biggest concern is that the cubes it makes are small for seed starting. Anything bigger than a tomato seed will be large for these cubes. Forget about putting a bean, it will be bigger than the block. But it makes a lot of blocks in one go. So you could easily join 4 cubes for a larger seed in the middle. The individual blocks will work great for celery size seeds. The size of the block is good to place the seed in a wet environment and put the block in a small 2" pot, so you have a good starting point rather than loose soil.I will have to report back once the seeds I used have germinated. It a good value and made well, but my concern it the small 5/8" cube size.It comes with a seed dozing box with a small funnel. That makes it very easy to put all small seeds in the box, adjust the feed ratio with the cap and tap them into the individual block. That's a great idea.

I purchased the smaller soil blocker excited to used it so I could start more seeds with less space. It didn't work properly, I'm assuming a really refined potting soil for this might work but is simply not necessary or affordable for how I garden. So that being said it doesn't work. Also the product started rusting immediately which means it will fall apart in no time. (Pictured below) I only used it once. It was very disappointing.

I'd be surprised if it works for all seed types because while it DOES work using some slightly moist soil, the cubes that it produces are pretty tiny. It's like they're so small that this seems more intended to be a toy used by children. Another thing that makes it seem like a toy is that there are only 15 cubes produced per use of this. If you're really into gardening you'll probably be planting a lot more seeds at a time than that. But it's obviously not a toy, because the stainless-steel construction really seems to be of a solid design and definitely meant to last.So... it's good but strangely not what I would really want in a soil cube maker. It also squeaks like crazy when using it, which is something contrary to what they advertise. My wife was like, "WHAT is that noise?!" while I was testing it.
