I bought this to help position a heat/UV lamp over our turtle tank, without having to hang it from our tall ceiling. There are several tube sections that screw together so there is some adjustability in the height. The arms help position the light both higher/lower as well as front to back, and you can rotate the arm to get some side to side adjustment too. There are clamps on the arm hinge to help hold it in place once you have the position desired. I also liked that the clips that the fixture hangs from are made of metal and not plastic. It also came with some nice velcro straps to hold the light fixture wires along the arms and post to keep everything neat.I can't speak to normal stability as I could not slide the base "under" our tank stand due to the water, so I placed it inside the aquarium stand, cantilevered out the back. I drilled three holes in the base plate and then used appropriate wood screws to mount the base plate inside my stand making it very sturdy in my application. Without this type of mounting you would probably want to place a weight on top of the base plate to make it more sturdy. I was going to mount two fixtures (so got two arms) but then went with a double light fixture and only needed one arm. This was no problem as the adapter on top of the post that holds the arms has three holes and I just used the center hole. The only "gripe" I have are the aluminum tubes that screw together and into the bottom plate. The threading is cut on the inside of these, and an all-thread "coupler" is positioned in the end to allow you to screw two tube sections together. The threads are so sloppy that the coupler didn't want to stay in position when screwing them together to make it strong. It wanted to screw into one tube and not the other so you only got a couple of threads of engagement on one of the tubes. I wound up using some blue Loctite on one end of the coupler and screwed one into each pipe section, then let them cure for a few hours. This gave me a pipe section with an attached threaded nipple to screw into the next pipe, without it moving, making for stronger joints that were more easily tightened.Overall I think this is a good choice and feels robust for its intended purpose.

Great product i like that you can adjust the height, angle, and width between the 2 lights along with a base.

Works well. I put a weight on the base just to play it safe.

Wish it extended outward more, in order to have it as high as possible it makes the light closer to the post. However it works fantastically my lemon tree went from a stick with a few leaves in a pot at death's door to a bushy full tree.

I really like the dual aspect of the lamp stand. I got it to hold a lamp but not for reptiles but for plants which is a little larger so the dual arms works well. It does need some extra support for stability and that is clear in the instructions provided. I wouldn't trust it not to tip over without it. The flat base plate doesn't have much weight on it's own but it does provide a good surface for adding weight so you can put it under some furniture or put any other weight of your choosing on it. It also comes with a clamp that is like the ones you mount to the wall for brooms and whatnot. I think it's for a table and just has a sticky pad to secure it so I'm not sure how strong it will be long term on a wall but I do like the additional security. So I'm giving that a try and if it doesn't stick long term it's easy to find something similar with better mounting which I may do. Overall, I like the device and will work well for what I need.

This product was easy to use and was exactly what i needed for my bioactive terrarium for my ball python. It allowed me to have the heating and lighting in a single setup. It was also easy to adjust the position of both arms so that I could ensure that the heat was in the right place.
