You’ll know when to change the pad,,, after 5ish minutes the purple sand paper will fly off your sander. The hook and loop will still be on your sander but the sand paper portion is where it landed when it flew away. The adhesive they use to attach the sandpaper to the hook and loop portion is crap. When they are on the sander, they work great though

The Dura-Gold Premium 2" Purple Film Ceramic Sanding Discs are an excellent choice for sanding projects! The variety pack covers a wide range of grits. The hook and loop system makes swapping discs quick and easy, and the backing plate holds them securely in place. The ceramic film construction is durable and long-lasting, providing consistent performance. While I rarely use grits above 400 for my woodworking I can see the benefit for auto refinishing. I’d love an assortment with more lower grits. However, this set is still a fantastic value for auto or woodworking projects!

Pads work very well. I use on fiberglass boat in tight spaces. A quick spin in water and they unclog nicely.

Haven't used the discs yet but they seem very good quality, consistent with the other Dura-gold discs I've gotten. As others have noticed, very few of them have a grit marking on the back. But there IS a solution to this: There are two stacks in the box and they are in order from coarse to fine with the exception that the 40 grit discs are in the stack with the super fine grits. Mark the first three using a Sharpie with 60, the next three with 80 and so on.If you are not sure, set them all aside three at a time as they come off the stack and you will find the occasional marking that will match what you expect those three to be.This is somewhat annoying, to be sure, but the lack of grit marking is consistent with every other brand of small (1" -3") discs that I've gotten. Some variety packs have the discs in little bags with the grit marked on each bag but the bags are a pain for me so I take them out and use my Sharpie anyway. The drill backing plate is nothing special, consistent with all the others sold on Amazon. The only exception is the Dura-Gold Bowl Sander Tool Kit (which I also have) which has a much thicker foam - this might be better in some circumstances but worse in others.

I have used all types of Dura-Gold abrasives for years and I have always been happy with them. They are a good value brand in the world of sanding and polishing. These discs do not disappoint in their quality and durability and the price is certainly right. This kit comes with a flexible mandrel and 36 assorted discs from coarse to really fine. I can't tell a 600 disc from an 800 disc without looking at the numbers on the back. The markings on the back of these discs are partial to non existent on most of them because of their die cutting. The mandrel that is supplied is like most economy parts in that it should be the industry standard 1/4 inch (.250) mandrel and instead it is a 6mm (.236) shaft. This wouldn't be a big deal except that now you have forced me to tighten my 1/4" collet down so tight it is almost impossible to loosen when I need to remove the mandrel. The mandrel is otherwise a nice piece and it will still get used but I'll be cursing it every time it needs to be removed and I'll always remember where it came from.

Nice discs. Work great. Wish that each disc had its grit posted on back. Lots of pads and not always simple to figure out which grit it is.
