I live in San Diego. My heaters are rarely used and they are not subject to weather. I bought 3 of these heaters and 1 has stopped working after 1 yr. It turns on, just doesn't turn red and produce heat. I may have used it 15 times...

We got 2 of these. They work well. Heat people, not surfaces. You do need to have a heavier electrical line dedicated separately, for it to plug into. If you can’t do it yourself, get an electrician. Best to be safe.

This is a great heater for outdoor living space. I was fortunate since I was an electrician, to get the 240v heater and have an outlet already with slight modifications. The plug that comes connected to the heater is not a standard 3 prong 240v plug. I had to make an extension cord with an adaptor to connect to my existing outlet. This was done, as I did not have time to get the proper parts ship to change my receptacle to accommodate. I did not want to cut the manufacture cord.On to heating aspect. I have this unit about 7 feet up in the air off my garage and it heats FAST! I use the remote control and within seconds the space below and out about 8 feet is already getting warm. This is an open-air space, so if you have it under a patio, I am sure this would heat more of the space. One we finish some backyard remodeling, I will looking to get another 1-2 more.

This heater gives off a good amount of heat. However, we've already gone through 2 in a year. The power comes on, but no heat. The same thing has happened both times. We are not electricians and have no idea how to fix them.

I apologize for the length of this review. The heaters are working great. In reading other reviews, I have decided to provide a response that will assist home owners when they wish to install their own heaters.1. My son has a larger heater version. (I was limited to a 12 gauge wire due to conduit size.) When I let him know I was planning to buy, he suggested that I figure out where and how to mount to achieve the maximum heat at sitting level. It is not yet cold; so. the final mounting has not yet been made.2. I saw that the heater has a "special" plug based on other's reviews. Not so. This is a 240 with two horizontal hot legs. (No neutral wire is needed at the plug, only the ground.) The plugs receptacles are available. I found the needed receptacles and installed the two I purchased and installed them without a problem.3. The manufacturer suggests that you unplug the unit when not in use. For me, that is not an option. This is based on their locations on underside of the Costco Gazebo. They are hanging from the rafters. If the cords were longer, I could have located the plugs at a location where they could be unplugged.4. I went to an electrical supply house to purchase two 20A switches to be mounted in a one gang box. Electrical supply houses cater to facilities that are not for the home and carry only equipment that is rated for 20A and above.5. At the time of the pre-cover on another part of the project, I asked the electrical inspector several questions. I was informed that I was limited to a 3500 watt maximum. This is because the raceway required de-rating the 12 gauge wire. It pencils out that I could install a 4000 watt unit without de-rating. I provide this as only a caution. Please refer to the current NEC (National Electrical Code) Book as well as other State and local jurisdictions.6. Regarding pulling an electrical permit (as the owner of your own home), at least in WA State, you can pull the permit and call them out for a consultation PRIOR to the work. Invaluable! As a side discussion on this point, I installed a new 150A sub-feeder for the back yard's Jacuzzi, plus other needs. The $60 fee for them to come out achieved a solution that was cost effective and efficient with minimal effort. In that case, I had one slight fix and achieved the final.7. After the installation was complete, I requested a final electrical on my permit. (I live in WA State.) The inspector came out. He asked several questions. (As all inspectors seem to do.) Confirmed everything was 20A equipment and after answering all of their questions, the only requirement was to utilize 20A GFI breakers. The two GFI breakers are on order.Getting back to the basic heaters, they do work great. They are instant hot! If I had more room in the underground 3/4" conduit, I would put in more. One last point, the conduit comes up within one of the posts of the Gazebo, so it is unseen.(The purchase is "easy". The install, not so "easy" but doable. Good luck!!!)

The initial product had a problem and no longer worked. When I sent an email outlining the problem East Oak customer service quickly replaced the outdoor heater and continually checked for my satisfaction. My electrician installed the replacement heater in my pavilion. It works fine! Thank you East Oak. 😊
