Work good, unable to install driver for linux, too old. Therefore, I can't use it for hacking.

It works great as intended in Windows as a WIFI adapter card for 2.4 and 5 Ghz. I needed to capture all WIFI frames for educational and WORK purposes. It's a bit expensive to get software to do this in Windows. I moved on to Lubuntu Linux. I had to get and install the correct driver for it to work. After that and some learning curve I am able to capture WIFI in "monitor" mode and see Management frames as well as with some knowledge decode and see all traffic. (Can't decode TLS, eg HTTPS but that's because it would require knowing the key codes from the servers.) I got what I wanted out of it. So much so that WE bought a 2nd one for the SHOP

It's the first time that I have purchased and used a portable wifi adaptor and I didn't want to spend $100 or more. After a bit of research and reading some online reviews, I came accross this one which was rated 3rd or 4th best wifi adaptor. I decided to give it try and the result was quite impressive. My PC is located in the main bedroom and the NBN modem is located in the second bedroom. We are using NBN50. Although the signal has to go through 2 main walls and sometimes with bedroom doors closed as well, it is very stable with minimal lag when I was playing online games and streaming FHD videos. It is much better than the tp-Link my PC builder provided at the purchase of my PC.I am pretty impressed by this adaptor and I do recommend it to anyone who wants decent wifi connection and don't have money to burn.

It worked on the first try and continued working flawlessly ever since. I also like the reliability and the speed of the connection. The previous, older and dead adapter would not allow for the whole bandwidth we have in the household. There is essentially nothing to dislike about this adapter so far. I love it.

If you're reading this review, you've probably come up against the same or similar concern as I did. The speeds aren't as advertised. They advertise speeds upto 1300 Mbps with 3 spatial streams on wireless AC. Well, I work in the wireless industry and use these devices for surveys, which they work great for the price, but they're not supporting their advertised speeds. If you review the images I've attached, the diagnosis is that this specific model, EW-7833UAC or Edimax AC1750, does not have the capability of 1300 Mbps, but instead it's Max Capability is 975 Mbps. This isn't a driver issue, the last driver from Edimax's support site is rev. 01.0.0.6, Support OS: Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Languages: English, Date: 2017-01-18 (There are other OS versions also with more current dates). Clean install, different devices installed and tested on, different settings on wireless controller and consumer grade wireless equipment which results in the same speeds. If you are looking for the 1300Mbps, out of this model, please look elsewhere. If you are ok with the speeds up to 975 Mbps and the capabilities with certain survey software or unique devices, then this is an excellent choice. It accommodates what I need at this time, but I will test the next iteration of these devices and if they do not support their advertised speeds, immediately send them back for a refund.

OK I only give 3 stars out of 5 for ease of installation and really I could have give less for the following resonI am a Linux user and it does say that Linux is supported on the box and on the the web site. But it won't install by itself and if you follow the instruction from the web site, it will not work, I found the solution elsewhere. I still gave them 3 stars because Linux is not a big market for themBut once install, it flies, and it is rock solid.

Plugged into new computer with a clean install of Windows 10. Was detected and worked. However, top speed was around 2Mbps. Other AC1750 devices nearby getting over 200Mbps back to my router. Checked Edimax for new driver. They had one that was newer than the stock Windows driver, but was still a couple years old. Installed that, did a reboot, and now the drivers will not start (error 10). Tried the simple device manager uninstall and reload stock drivers. Tried the Edimax uninstaller. Nothing works - must have overwritten some of the stock driver files or something.I searched around online and see a lot of other people with the same issue - extremely slow speeds, unreliable connection, and drivers getting into a bad state. The issues are much worse if you have Windows 10 anniversary edition (1607) or newer which came out 2016. In one post I saw, Edimax acknowledged the issue and said a fix was on the way. That post was over a year old.Throwing this away and buying something more reliable.

Edit: My new router arrived and is a vast improvement over my prior router. Out of curiosity I tried using this dongle again and it works exactly the way I wanted it to when I bought it in the first place; clearly it was my old router that was entirely the problem. Revising rating to 4. The setup is still a pain and needs better documentation about the drivers (something my new router handled well, so it's possible to do).I bought this for an older laptop that could only interact with 2.4ghz wireless signals and my router only had 5ghz. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it did eventually work, but even now it will periodically turn itself off - or at least drop the connection - so I have to run the builtin troubleshooter to reset it and restore the connection. Some days it's worse than others and it won't stay connected. Most of the time it will have one or two hiccups and then work fine.It came with an installation CD which I ran successfully, but it wasn't able to connect. I had to go read a lot of other reviews and support before I found someone saying you need to get manufacturer driver updates from the website before it would work, and once I did that it did work most of the time. As noted above, however, it isn't a reliable connection.I wouldn't even bother to review really but I am annoyed by the poor support and lousy capabilities of this device. I bought this hoping I could avoid buying a new router and that didn't work out for me. If you need a quick fix for a short period of time, this will do the job, but don't expect it to be a long term solution.

Works well with Win10. However trying to get it working on my Ubuntu 14.10 office machine has been a real pain in the place where the sun don't shine, which kinda defeats the purpose why I bought it in the first place. If I get it to work on the Linux box, will update the review.

I tested the Wireless Adapter with a desktop system I have in my upstairs office. While my desktop computer is perfect as it is with all the specs I wanted, it's not standard for a desktop computer to have a wireless card built-in. This adapter has allowed me to connect that desktop to my router and network wirelessly, without the need to string Ethernet cable all over the house, which can be a real pain. This adapter would also work great with a notebook if I wanted to upgrade the connectivity to AC1750 speeds. The adapter is very thin and could be left in the computer all the time, barely sticks out.The system I used this adapter with is running Windows 10t and install and set up were really easy and simple. The package includes the drivers necessary for the adapter, and they can also be found on the manufacturer website as a download, if necessary.I have found the performance of this Wi-Fi adapter to be pretty good. My setup has a few walls and a floor between the computer and router, and this adapter overcomes those obstacles quite well.Overall, I like this Wireless Adapter a lot and have found it to deliver great results. This is a very useful Wi-Fi adapter, if you have the need for it.
