I wanted this for a 125G that sits in a foyer, right beside the master bedroom. I have two canister filters on it, but the top is almost completely sealed (L014 plecos love to jump) so I needed an actual source of fresh air. Since it's right beside the master bedroom, I needed a quiet one, and most review websites gave this one high marks for being quiet. And the pump really is VERY quiet! I couldn't hear it from the moment I shut the cabinet doors.Despite being a 125G I went with the 200-model because the tank is relatively short (16" high) and already has good filtration. But this thing is POWERFUL and as a result the bubbles themselves can get pretty loud! I was able to turn them down to make it quieter, but then tested it at full airflow while listening from inside the bedroom with the door shut. I didn't hear it from in there, so I kept everything at full strength from now on.I do wish the 200-model (and probably the 400-model) came with extra airline tubing for the additional outlets. The length included in the box was only enough for ONE outlet to reach from inside the stand where the pump sits, to the top of the tank on the outside, and back down near the substrate on the inside. I had to use my own airline tubing for the second outlet. The other issue I found is that even though you can adjust the flow on each outlet individually, they use the same actual pump mechanics, it just gets split by the outlets. So if you only want to use one outlet you will want to use the separate Y-connector they give you so you can plug both outlets into a single tube going into the tank. But if you use both outlets separately, one may get better airflow than the other even at max flow, and you'll have to turn the stronger flow DOWN to turn the lighter flow UP. Just don't leave one outlet open and unconnected or the air will escape there (path of least resistance) and the other one won't work.

I love Eheim products... with more than 70 years of innovation... what can you beat ?I have had aquariums for more than 60 years. There is a lot of junk out there in the aquarium product industry but this air pump rocks ! Quiet and powerful. Quality speaks (quietly) for itself.

I decided to double my budget for an air pump; I was tired of the grinding noise of the brand new under $30 "highly rated" quiet model I bought based on popularity and reviews. Wow! This makes all the difference! Plus it is powerful and has two sets of controls. And a great warranty! I'm definitely a fan. It is being used on four tanks in my office at the moment. While not silent, it is pretty quiet! The bigger the tank/requirements, the more you need to turn up the motor of course. If you can work with a decent HOB (hang on back filter), you'll find this is pretty quite too. Tuck it away, and you probably won't notice it after a few weeks. It barely vibrates the table (can't tell).

Pump is very quiet but the sound was a bit high pitched and got on my nerves, so I returned it. This is a matter of personal preference. Quiet or tolerable sound is important to me. This pump's sound might not bother others. It gave out a good deal of air.

I'm very happy with the Eheim 200. A Very sturdy build. The pump is actually a little too powerful for my 30 gal tank. Mostly, I was amazed at how quiet this pump was. In fact the bubbles rising in the tank are the only thing I here now. It even came with extras I didn't expect like a higher quality air hose and check valves.

We have a 26 gallon tall aquarium set up in the main kitchen/family area. It is really important that the pump and other accessories are quiet because we spend a lot of time here. My previous pump was a $25 diaphragm style pump but was just too noisy. After a lot of reading and research I got this pump, hoping that it would be quieter.Initially it did seem to be a bit quieter, I didn't take any measurements but running the old and new pumps side by side some difference was noticeable. However to my pleasant surprise after running for a couple of weeks it actually got quieter, some have said they break in over time. I placed it on top of a thick piece of fabric on top of an anti-vibration pad on top of the corner of the tank. It is so quiet that you have to lean in to hear it, and the bubbles from the sponge filter are about the same volume, which is to say barely audible. We don't need a lot of power from the pump which also might help. It has two outputs and came with tubes and connectors to combine them into a single output which is what we did, and also turned down the output to the minimum. It currently only powers a single airstone, which is the kind that is cleanable and can be disassembled (layers of fabric sandwiched between ceramic), which produces larger bubbles but also provides less resistance, so the pump doesn't have to work as hard. This probably contributes to the quiet running.Overall I'm thrilled with the purchase and it was exactly what I'd hoped for.

I have had this air pump for 2 months and it's working great and still SILENT. I'm using it in a 20 gallon tank with 1 bubble wall, 1 stone and both of the bubblers that came with the pump. I believe it is powerful enough to run another tank as both dials are on the lowest setting.I was able to hang it on a hook next to the tank because it's so QUIET- i didn't have to hide it in the cabinet wrapped in towels to muffle the noise. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!I have been an aquarium hobbiest for 30 years and this is the best air pump I have ever used. I have used other EHEIM aquarium products and have always been pleased with their performance and craftsmanship.I rely alot on other people's reviews when I am shopping on Amazon, I hope this helps someone with their decision.
