I will start off with saying I didn't take a picture because I completely forgot and it's already put away. I've been making sourdough since August of 2024. During the cold months. My breads would fail because our house was too cold. Just got this gadget and it really helped with keeping my sourdough in a good place and helping it rise! It's small and compact and very easy to use. I highly recommend this for all the sourdough users out there that live cold temperatures.

This little warmer mat is perfect for my starter. My house is pretty chilly and using this lets me know my starter isn’t dropping to too low of a temperature. The size is fairly small and it’s easy to store when I’m not using it.

This warming mat makes maintaining a sourdough starter so much easier! It keeps the temperature just right, so my starter stays bubbly and active. The thermostat and timer are simple to use, and the memory function is a nice touch. If you struggle with keeping your starter warm, this is a great solution!

I've been keeping my starter for several years now and have tried all the home-made tricks to keep starters and doughs warm. Forget it. Get a warming plate and get consistently active starter! This is the second warming plate I've had and I'm not sure why others have had so many problems. And a couple of the reviewers are clearly reading the manual wrong. I really like this warmer and t's so easy: set the temperature, set the time, walk away. Pro tip: toss a kitchen towel over it to help keep the temperature consistent throughout the entire jar. There is a chart in the manual that shows the temp the surface will be to achieve your desired temp within the jar. The SURFACE of the plate will be about 15 degrees higher than the set point. This is NOT an inaccuracy, this is how the heater works. As you can see in my photos, the temp of the starter is exactly where the manual says it will be. Also the plate is calibrated for a 60 F kitchen temp. If your kitchen is colder than that, you may need a higher setting. If your kitchen is warmer than that you may need a lower setting. Very simple stuff. The manual tells you that there may be a 5-degree difference depending on your jar, your kitchen temp, drafts, etc.I did check the temp of the plate's surface when set to 80F: the surface was 95F just as the manual said it would be.A Red light indicates the plate is warming, a blue light indicates the plate is at temp. The plate turned off automatically when the timer was done, which is really important!Super easy to set, easy to read, good results. And for fun, when my starter was done, I cranked up the temp and set my cup of tea on it so now my tea is still warm while I'm baking the bread!

This product works for creating sourdough starter. However, if you read the manual it states the temperature is only accurate up to +-15 degrees, which is pathetically inaccurate. In my quick test with a thermal camera, it seemed even less accurate than that, often peaking at 20 degrees hotter than the requested temperature. As long as you keep that in mind, you can account for it and counteract it. In order to not fry your starter due to this awful inaccuracy, you're best keeping this thing at 70 F.
