Ok, The Think Buddy Explorer Pro would be a useful learning tool for a child from about 4 to 8 years old. By then they get their first cell phone which will have far better optics. The description is a little overrated here. My idea of a microscope is to be able to see microscopic organisms. With this, that isn't going to happen. It just gives you a pretty good zoom but not microscopic. It's more like Being able to get close ups on insects and other small things out there in the wild. The optics aren't the greatest. But I'm comparing that to my Cell phone camera which has a big advantage. The pictures are quite as crystal clear like our phones do but hey, these will just be a little kid starting out. And if it will get them out to learn about nature then it gets them out indoors and allows them to learn of stuff in nature while having fun at the same time. This is a good starting point for them learning life behind a screen. When they're done with this then here comes the cell phone. All in all, in the appropriate age group, the Think Buddy Explorer Pro is a good learning tool for the kids for a pretty reasonable price. That's where they'll get started with photography and videography and getting out and about while they're learning something They'll be doing their entire life. If you make it fun and interactive for them and actually teach them a few things out there. The more a child learns about the great outdoors then the more they want to go play outside which is a good thing. When they outgrow it, then it's cell phone time!

It doesn't take good pictures, the pictures are very blurry but I'm giving it 3 stars because my five year old son absolutely loves it.kind of hard to navigate you have to read the instructions to know how to do most functions.Very cute design and fun, vibrantly colored.

I may be missing something, but calling this a "microscope" might be a stretch. It's definitely cute, and kids will surely have fun with it. But it seems more like a digital camera to me. You can use the up arrow button to zoom in, but after clicking that 4 times, it did not zoom any further. I'm not sure what magnification that would be. The large white wheel on the top provides the focus. You push the camera button to snap a picture and the image button to review the saved images. There is no cap on the lens area, so that might be a problem for use by kids.

cute camera, light weight and came charged. however, you can't see anything on the zoom. no matter how much you go in or out, it's blurry. don't waste your time on this product.

This is a toy. I don't know what I was expecting, but it holds the attention of a three-year-old for a few minutes. The magnification doesn't seem to interest a three and four year-old, and my 10-year-old grandson shared that his phone was a better magnifier. The battery lasts for at least an hour, the zoom works well, but the picture is a bit grainy.

I think this is a fun toy. You can use the microscope to view small things and once you have them in focus (using the white knob) you can take a picture of them. It will be a nice toy to bring outside to investigate bugs and small outdoor things as it is very portable. But we have had fun with it inside also. It is nice you can save a picture of the item on the SD card. It is rechargeable so no need to worry about the batteries running out. There is a nice light that lights up the field of vision. On thing that may not be so intuitive to the children is that you need to hold the lighted tube over the item you are trying to view. The kids tend to want to hold the camera screen over the item but then can't find it in the window. But they get the hang of it pretty quickly. Overall I think this is a nice compact toy to explore and learn about the tiny things in our world.

While it does have a cute design, this is a camcorder not a telescope. At slight zoom, picture looks ok but zoom in and gets blurry. Wouldn’t recommend.
