As soft as a blanket but can withstand the heat. Used for a conversion to make a ice shelter or into a hot tent

This is the second time I’ve used this blanket but the first of which had something hot land on it. I bought this particular blanket because it was rated for 1800 degrees and I was needing it for around 1600 degrees. Today some hot glass fell on it and it melting in two spots, one of which actually went through and left a mark on my table. I have reached out to the company regarding warranty as my return window was a week or so ago. Hopefully they stand by their product.Update: the company responded and stood behind their warranty. 5 stars for the seller and their responsiveness.

I have a fireplace with glass doors that I had removed the damper (to stop smoke coming into the house when lighting it.). I always felt that I was losing a lot of heat through the folding glass doors at the seams, the crack between the doors and the edges, when the fireplace was not being used during the winter. I purchased some small thin rectangle rare earth magnets and epoxy glued them onto the blanket after I trimmed it to fit the fireplace behind the glass doors. Obviously the frame is steel. I used 80 grit sandpaper to scratch one side of the magnets and the glue has held well. Easy to remove and to put back up. I don't need for the fire to die down. I just separate the logs that are left to prevent them from continuing to burn fully, put up the blanket and close the glass doors. No smells, no problems whatsoever. It took me a decade to come up with this as a solution! LOL.

Placed this on the firebox of my smoker which operates between 700deg-800deg (the rating in the description states 1800deg) After 3 minutes the fire/heat resistant blanket started smoking and putting off obnoxious fumes. Took it off the smoker and it continued to smoke for several minutes. It is now in the trash!

I put some strong magnets on this and use it to cover my fireplace. Fireplace draft stoppers/blankets run you a hundo and up, don't bother, get one of these.
