Just got this tool and put 2 perfect DIN bubble flares with the 4.75mm steel lines still in the truck. The dies have 3" of clamping surface area which hold the line in the die firmly. The press takes very little effort to turn compared to the cheaper tools. Skip the headaches of the cheap HF tools that cant keep the line from slipping and get this one

Easy to use. Good quality tooling. Much easier than the auto parts store style. Wish I would've bought this first.

I set out to replace all the brake lines on a pickup I am restoring and needed to make a lot of double flares as a result. Since the truck has both 3/16" and 1/4" lines, this tool looked like it would do the trick. In the past I have used those cheap flaring tools but they are not only frustrating to use but after you have bent a new line into a complex shape to the point where it fits perfectly, you do not want to take a chance on some cheap flaring tool rendering your hard work to the trash bin as a result of a crappy flare. This tool achieved absolutely perfect flares each and every time and it is a breeze to use. My only complaint (not about the tool itself) is that their instructions are about useless. I was able to find a short video on Youtube posted by a guy who took the time to show how to properly use it and once I saw what he was doing, it then made sense how to use it. One piece of advice is that each and every time you use it, thoroughly clean your tubing AND the retaining lock blocks with brake clean. You want these parts to be spotless, clean and dry! I found that if there is any trace of dirt, glue or grease on any of those parts that the tubing will not stay in place during the flaring process. This is critical to achieving a perfect flare. Once I figured this out, then I had no more mishaps using it at all. Also, you should use a small dab of grease on the working ends of the small fittings to ensure a good flare. Not only that but they will last a lot longer as well.

It is made for S.U.R. and R copper line. It has had a rough life since I bought it as I am a professional mechanic in the midwest. It has a hard time with poly armor line and steel line, but can get it done with some fight.

I am truely impressed with this tool.Every flare to date has come out equal to factory examples. It is equally easy to use under the vehicle, free hand or clamped in a vice. Prior to this I was using a few different versions of the separate 2 thumb screw pinch block with separate everything else. About a 75% chance of success, and I am well practiced. The new tool 11 flares, no rejects. The turret style tools are great for bench work but are hundred dollars more and frankly suck for much else than bench work.

I am a mechanic and this is by far the easiest brake flaring tool to use, also the best quality, it is outright superior. I've tried many other tools in the past included the snap on. S.u.r&r Is the only tool I know if that can do the pvc coated hard steel lines that just brakes all other tools
