Put these on my 1996 Mustang GT to replace a set of stock mufflers that had rusted through. The tone is not super loud at startup, but when revving or accelerating at high speeds you can really hear the aggressiveness. Would buy again.

Yup... You've heard it all and so have I. Flowmaster this Flowmaster that. Flowmaster is unoriginal and run its course. Uuuuhhhhhh, hardly!!! I'm car enthusiast but also an exhaust enthusiast and I'm never satisfied. I've owned seven 5.0 Mustangs to date and I've always loved the mellow chambered sound on these cars. I currently have 1.3/4 headers, OR/H pipe, into new Super 44 and stainless LX tails (yes, on a GT). These make the "original" 40 Series sound just good. Not only do you get Flowmaster's signature hum but you also get a muscular report under acceleration. To be more detailed, it's almost half Flowmaster and half glass pack but it's neither. I would highly recommend these if you have a Fox body 5.0. If you've been looking to change your current Flowmaster mufflers and want something louder (not obnoxious) or you are thinking about a change to chambered, this is where your search ends!!! My experience is your guide: 1988 5.0, OR/X with 40s: DECENT, OR/X with Magnapacks: Excellent but without that signature hum, ditched the X for an H (H with chambered and X for non-chambered--remember that), H pipe with Magnapacks: Excellent and raspy/throaty, H with Spintech Pro 9000: Awful and removed 2 days later, H with 40s (came back to them as you can see), H+40s+Mac Pro Chamber: Decent but quite, NOW: 2.5" OR/H, Super 44s, LX tails out the back: Jackpot!!To sum this up, if you have a Mustang or any V8 where true dual exhaust pipes are present (or could be), Super 44s are dynamite!!!! My brother owns an 06 Chrysler 300C, cats, no resonators Super 44s and stock tails and it sounds Excellent. You just can't go wrong. I hope I've given some guidance as if you're like me and are never satisfied with your exhaust note, THIS is what you want. Hope this helps!

unlike most people that buy these that either put them on mustangs or trucks, i decided to put it on a hatchback. a 2 liter 4 cylinder DOHC. from idle the car isnt very loud at all. you can barely hear it in the cab with the ac and radio off. outside theres a bit of a rumble but its nothing big. give it a little gas though. and this thing comes to life. at 2000 rpms i could hear it clearly over my radio and ac. i wasnt blasting music or anything but it was still medium volume. at full throttle youre not going to be able to cover the sound no matter how loud your radio is. its a very pleasing rumbling sound. however, it is not defeaning. even while driving around you, so long as you granny shift it, you can still have a conversation with people in the car just fine. wide open throttle youll have to raise your voice a tad. it has a very nice deep rumbling tone to it. even on a 4 cyl like mine. and i dont know if this is placebo but i have noticed she pulls a little bit harder (with the AC OFF)now if you dont want to be hearing it all the time you might be glad to know that you cant hear it at all while coasting. assuming youre driving a stick shift. as soon as you take it out of gear its "shuts off" and you cant hear it what so ever.SOMETHINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING!you might need an adapter pipe to get this on there.its a 2.5 inch inlet so most cars are not going to be able to fit this from factory so youll have to get an adapter. they are extremely cheap, costing around 3 or 4 bucks at autozone. it doesnt have to be an exact measure for the adapter either. i have a 1 3/4 inch pipe and i got a 1 7/8th to 2 and 1/4 inch adapter and the guy at the shop said that was fine that they could just stretch the adapter a little bit and make it fit.YOU WILL BE CUTTING OFF YOUR OLD MUFFLER. thats one of the things my friends askme now that i have this (they like the sound) is if i had to have my old muffler cut off. and yeah. they are going to cut it off so they can weld the new one on.be ready to buy some exhaust hangers. again these arent expensive at all. like 10 to 15 bucks. maybe less. most mufflers have hangers on em to hold them in place. luckily the guy at the shop was able to find a couple of some U shaped steel bolt thing and he used that as a hanger and welded it on. or they could cut the hangers off of your old muffler and use them instead. however, in the case they cannot do these 2 things its best to be ready and have already bought a pair. if they dont use it you can always return them.this product is good quality and makes driving extremely fun. one of the funnest things is seeing peoples faces as they dont expect a car like mine to sound like that. shifting is incredibly satisfying and i find myself itching for any chance to downshift. it very much gives your car a "sleeper" vibe to it. which is exactly what im modding this car to be , but now it also sounds the part. best thing is that the exhaust isnt very showy or overly large. it was actually smaller than my stock exhaust. and a bit lighter surprisingly. this one weighs like 10 to 15 pounds. my old one weighed around 30! (WEIGHT REDUCTION!) it doesnt try to show boat unlike the huge shiny fart cans you see on some cheap hondas. and it sounds. soooo nice. definitely worth the money. sounds great on almost any vehicle from 4 cyl to 6 to the v8. cannot go wrong.

It has taken me awhile to getting around to installing this myself on my 97 ford expedition 5.4L and after the install and the first start up you could instantly hear the difference! Sounds like the truck was meant to sound like this, and it feels like the truck got a fresh start. From 0 to 2000 rpm it sonds just like a super 44 should sound but at highway speeds it is barely noticeable. If anyone is getting this for the same truck I recommend you rent a sawzall to help any DIY'er if your clamping it on and loctite for the clamp bolts. Honestly it took a good amount of cutting the exhaust tubing even after dropping the OE muffler but do it in 2inch steps. I ended up right before the Y intersection of exhaust coming from motor and had to do with out a heat shield. To make final cut to level muffler you will have to remove another heat shield just to make a good cut and replace it before final install.I used a 2.5 inch single flared pipe from exhaust to inlet on muffler then just dumped exhaust from outlet on muffler using a 45 degree 2.5 inch single flared pipe. This results in a very strong sounding muffler. I did away with the original remaining exhaust pipe leading over rear axle and angled out to side since it couldn't be used.I know this sounds kind of hacked but it turned out great. If you are into the whole FLOWMASTER sound and have been wondering how agressive the super 44 is you will not be dissapointed!
