No notches on the top edge for removal. It has a slot on the bottom which can be reached by a skinny screwdriver, if you have a screwdriver of just the right size.

This does what it is supposed to: allow me to put my 3/8 inch ball head on my 1/4 tripod; however, threads seem loose. Also, when I screwed on my ball head then screwed it off, there were small metal shavings left in the ball head. The metal seems soft, but I think it will be ok for a camera tripod.

I have a tripod I wanted to use a fluid head for better panning (the old one tended to skip a bit), but the screw on it was the standard 1/4 inch size that also connects to most cameras. The head, however, had the larger 3/8 inch thread. This allowed me to pop on the new head and use it as desired.Simple. Effective. I have a few spares if I run into the issue again.

Item as described. For anyone else confused how this works, it literally turns your 1/4" screw (typically found on monopod/tripod heads) into a 3/8" screw (typically found on the base of separately bought tripod heads). What I did was screw this into the tripod ballhead I bought for my monopod with a screw driver. Notice how one end has a flat opening? That's where you put something (e.g. a flathead screw driver) and then start turning like you are putting in a regular screw. After the screw is inside your tripod ballhead (or whatever else you're using this for), you screw that object ontop of your original 1/4" mount on the tripod/monopod/whatever. Yes, you can put the screw in by hand, but you will not get a tight fit like this. An alternative would be to screw this onto the tripod/monopod mount, then the tripod ballhead/etc. ontop of it. In either case, you will likely need a flathead to remove the screw from whatever 3/8" item you're using. My only complaint is 5 screws is a bit much, and you definitely can find these on other third party sites (ebay, aliexpress, etc.) or even third party sellers on Amazon for MUCH cheaper. They honestly are all the same, but the difference is this is Prime eligible and I can't afford to wait 1-2 months.

Quality appears to be good. I'm using this to connect a 1/4" Tripod connector to a Neewer 360° 1/4" ball head for panorama shots. It seems to work fine.I looked over several 1/4" to 3/8" adapters that could, potentially, work for this purpose before ordering these. I've just started using them but I believe these adapters will work well because:1. They will go deep enough and don't have a flange - so the ball head will fit flush - so it will reduce shake for longer shutter speeds2. The slot on the adapters are deep-set and hollow so it can be accessed from inside (as you can see in the photo I included). This will allow me to use a narrow (probably 3/8") straight slot screw driver to unscrew it if it should unscrew from the 1/4" connector inside the ball head.
