This Lewis bag is the one to get. Looks beautiful and works like a champ. Your Martinis and cocktails will be perfectly chilled when you crack your ice in this sturdy Lewis bag. A must have for any serious Martini drinker.

Have had it about a week. Holds upto smashing of the ice. Takes care of the excess water due to my ice maker, which made all my ice cubes freeze together in one giant ice cube. Only down fall I see is the fabric remnants from the bag seem to come off and imbed in the crushed ice. Which gives quite the odd feeling when u dont see it and it ends up in your mouth...

I can't tell you how many times my husband has commented on how much he loves the Lewis Ice Bag-----it makes the perfect ice for smoothies and cocktails with very little pounding. It is durable and keeps the ice in the bag until it is used. Perfection!

It's still a better way to crush ice than a blender, but it tends to leave strings in the finished product, and it takes heightened care to avoid having your ice shoot out of the bag while you're crushing it.If you're wanting uniformity in your crushed ice, set aside at least 10 minutes for non-stop pulverizing. This is mostly of no fault of the manufacturer, as the size of the ice is up to the user. However, it still takes a while to make given the tendency for the ice to sneak out of the bag while crushing.

Other reviews said a small wooden mallet might be included -- mine arrived with no mallet, but I still like the product. I grabbed a little wooden "crab hammer" for $1 from the rod-and-reel area at a local megastore -- works just fine. The Lewis Ice Bag is a fun accessory in the kitchen or bar, making small quantities of crushed ice as needed. I've had mine for several months, and use it often. And if mine suddenly burst into flame, I would first call the fire department, and then get on Amazon to order another one.A few caveats, if you're planning to get one:* You'll find that the canvas seam inside the bag sheds a thread once in a while. It's part of the charm, so fish it out of the crushed ice and enjoy your extra-charming drink. :-)* There's a knack to putting the right amount of "smash" on the ice. If you overfill the bag, you'll leave several cubes un-smashed, so don't plan on making six drinks at once with this thing. One or two drinks at a time.* My icemaker cranks out *really* cold ice. The first time I use the Lewis Bag, the canvas is nice and dry, and it works great. The second time around (if the bag is still a little wet from the first run), the crushed ice immediately freezes onto the wet canvas. It's not a show-stopper, it's just a thing that happens. I might get a second bag and cycle through them to allow for drying time. Or I could, what ... drink less? (Good thing Amazon doesn't tell you how *many* of these things I buy!)Enjoy!

I so love this simple little ice bag! I was so tired of trying to crush ice in a plastic bag wrapped in my kitchen towel - the results were always disappointing and messy. This simple bag, which I use with a wooden meat tenderizing mallet, works great. I can get whatever consistency I want serenading upon how long I hammer it. The bag holds up nicely - no sign of wear after several weeks of use. I just hang it upside down over an empty beer bottle to dry.

We have tried many methods for crushing ice along the way, and all have their limitations. This one does, too- but it's the lowest-tech and easiest to store we've tried.Basically: put ice in the heavy canvas bag; fold the top over and hold it, and hit it with a hammer (or a meat tenderizer). Not only does it smash the ice efficiently, but it's excellent for releasing hostility! (I am a metalsmith, and I often say that us metals people are happy because we get to hit things and set them on fire- one commonality we have with cooking, which is another passion of mine). You won't get perfectly shaved ice for a frozen margarita, but it's not a bad way to start that, then put it in a really sturdy blender. For other iced cocktails, it's excellent, handy, and easy to use and to store.Win!
