Bought this microwave a little less than 18 months ago. It has stopped working, with no power, and according to a service technician needs a new control panel which will cost $200-300 to replace (parts and labor)

We purchased this microwave in November of 2019 from amazon. Had is installed. It is now August of 2020, and it stopped working, it does not heat food anymore. Called GE had a GE repairman out to check it and he told us that the part needed to fix the microwave cost $300!! The Microwave cost $299.00!! He told us and showed us that in the manual it states that if it is less than a year it should be returned to the seller. WELL according to Amazon, it is past the 90 days for a return and they cannot help me. Well so now I am out $300.00.!! Thank you GE, your products STINKS!!!! And Thank you Amazon for no help at all in resolving this issue. I WILL NEVER BUY GE AGAIN OR BUY ANY PRODUCTS LIKE THIS FROM AMAZON....

We bought this microwave to replace a 10 year old JEM25, which was mounted under a cabinet. This appears to be the only model they currently (3-2020) make that can be mounted that way. Since we already had the mounting brackets and screws, I figured it'd be easy to swap the new for old.WRONG. GE has changed the spacing of the holes in the top of the oven, and gone from English to Metric screws. So I called GE and asked if they could send me a mounting template for the new unit, and I'd use my old hardware, drilling extra holes in the brackets. They said it was too difficult for them to do that, but that they'd send me a mounting kit (which includes the template) for free, via Fedex, and it'd arrive in 3 days.WRONG. It never showed up. When I called back a week later, nobody knew about that promise. Not only that, they said that the only solution was to buy a new mounting kit, but that they are backordered for 4 months.WRONG. I called back a couple of days later again. First I was told that GE doesn't make under-cabinet microwaves - even though I just bought this one. Then I was told the mounting kits ARE available, and did I want to order one? By then, we'd devised our own mounting template, and all we needed were screws. So what I wanted to know was the size of the metric screws.WRONG. Initially I was told that nobody had that information, then that GE won't share it. I was told that I could call GE's Consumer Relations Dept. I tried that, but if you don't have a case number, you can't talk to anyone. And of course, if you can't talk to anyone, you can't get a case number. Pretty convenient for them, eh?I finally figured out what screws I needed: M5-0.8 x 50mm. You might need shorter or longer screws, depending on the cabinet you're mounting under.I spent 2 hours on the phone with people in GE call centers. In general the individuals were trying to be helpful, but it's obvious that the company itself is unwilling and unable to actually provide customer support. I don't understand why they keep a call center full of employees in that case (I heard scores of them in the background whenever I called). I do know that I'll NEVER buy a GE appliance again.

It is very quiet, compared to our old GE. Does everything we need and being 800 watts, doesn't use as much electricity. We like the 30 second feature also. Didn't have that on our old model. Wish we could have had it in the beige/almond color, but really liked the dimensions on this model and could not find any other microwaves this size. It is perfect for over my sink and very convenient while I am doing dishes I can see what is going on in the oven. We are highly satisfied!!! CE

I searched and searched for a microwave oven that would fit in the space where our old one was. This was the one! We ordered a trim kit and installed the microwave and kit in no time at all. So easy! And the microwave works perfectly. It's a small microwave, but it's a perfect replacement for our old one. It looks great in our kitchen!

This microwave is more rectangular shaped than most, long and more narrow. It defrosts meat well if you flip meat when it tells you too, I've thawed ground beef, pork chops, steaks, and chicken. The reheat options work well and heat pretty evenly, the baked potato option works well too. The turntable seems small since it has to fit the shallow depth but that has not beena problem. The table fits three very large potatoes and the extra length is nice when defrosting long trays of meat. I don't like that the timer beeps only once at completion, I prefer a timer that beeps until you hit clear or cancel in case i don't hear it immediately. The clear/cancel/pause buttons seem a little weird and it will display err if microwave is opened before completing time. I will probably get used to it or maybe it would be helpful to read the instructions.

We have used the GE Profile microwave ovens since 1986. Three years ago, our original purchase finally failed. We purchased another, and in Dec. 2013 I made a big mistake. I put a bag of popcorn in to reheat and failed to realize that it had a clothespin securing it. Soon there was noise and smoke coming from the unit and fire on the inside. After putting out the fire, the inside was scorched. I decided to order a replacement, and got it in just a couple of days. This is an improved model from the one we had 3 years ago, still 800 watt (I think the first one was 600 watt), and similar control panel. It seems, however, that certain functions take longer to perform, like heating a cup of coffee, about 4.5 minutes. Other operations using the sensor require an additional step to select the type and quantity of food. Perhaps this makes the unit more precise in heating, but I have used the sensor less and save a step by selecting the quick cook option by pressing one number key. This is a low profile unit, less power than many, but it has alway suited our needs. We highly recommend it.
