I like that this is brass rather than pot metal. This particular one is gold plated. I haven't had it long enough to judge the longevity of that plating. It looks nice and I had no issue installing it.

I gave this a 4 star because it is, what feels like, a well-made piece and would look nice on any mandolin. I (and I'll admit I was wrong in this assumption) was under the impression that this piece was "universal". I was using this to replace a tailpiece that had lost the cover. Turns out, the holes didn't line up with what was already there, but were too close to drill more and compromise the structure of the body. I thought I'd use the cover on my old tailpiece. So close...and yet so far. It was just a tad to small. I tried manipulating it with pliers, but to no avail.

Nothing special, just nice construction and pretty heavy gauge metal. The original on my "The Loar" was flimsy and rattled, perfect replacement. Comes with screws.

For the price I was shocked at the quality pressed tin with gold plating. Yes the plating is good enough. But the price no way is it worth £28. I feel very dissapionted. It has to go on though as the mandolin needs to be sent off tonight to my grandsonShould have waited and purchased a good one. No a proper one.

Does what it says on the tin. Looks beautiful when doing it, too.

Decent tailpiece with very good fit and finish. Not very heavy, but it was clear from the product description that this is a stamped steel piece with (brass?) plating. Easy to install and is holding the loops at the end of the mandolin strings just fine.
