Well, I think it’s working… but it does seem to be. I live in a low-radon area, but still wanted to know. Seems to be monitoring well, and I like the different values being displayed on the Home Screen to get a quick idea of what the levels are currently, over a day, and longer period. The screen is easy to read, and the LED lighting can be turned off if you’d prefer. I haven’t connected the WIFI yet, as the method of entering in the password seems a little wonky- but I also didn’t read the manual to see if there was an easier way.Overall, though, if you’re worried about radon, I’d say this is a good option to make sure your family is safe.

This detector seems to be working. I can tell that because I have a U.S. military lensatic compass made in 1953, when they were still using radium markings. Being that radium's half life is about 1,600 years, this compass is still a potent source of radon. I have attached three pictures: the detector's reading before exposure to the compass, the compass itself, and the detector's reading 10 minutes after setting the compass next to it. As you can see, it skyrocketed in only 10 minutes. The detector is about the size of a can of soda, and it has to be plugged into an electrical outlet. That's a bit unfortunate because that limits where I can place it. However, it reacts quickly, and it has a very legible display. It would have been nice if they would have added a linear scale of the continuum of danger with an arrow reflecting its current reading. That way the layman can judge just how bad the situation is at a glance. All in all, this is a great little detector.

Easy to use and worth the money the app doesn't work but save the web page and log in and you get the same thing

Note: Important update follows the initial review below. The bottom line is that this is a very good radon detector with a remarkably low limit of detection.INITIAL REVIEW:This GQ RadonScan-Plus radon detector is very nicely designed, however in actual use it's not reliable. The device is fairly easy to configure (time and date) and connect to wifi. It uses an old school menu setup that requires you to scroll through all the characters to find the one you want.I have another radon detector that is reliable and provides a good comparison. Based on that older detector, I installed a radon mitigation system, which dramatically reduced radon concentrations from the basement and all through the house. This is confirmed with that device and a conventional lab-based collector. The instructions for the GQ radon detector say after powering up it will start proving measurements in 5 minutes. Mine immediately reports 199.99 pci/L (the max possible reading). When observed for several days it will often start at a lower level and quickly climb to the max. Registering, resets and HW calibration doesn't help at all.Oh yeah, the app does nothing at all. Just a blank screen. There seems to be no way to record and download results locally. Although it's not clear per the website description or online instruction manual, the app may be intended to provide reports after they're uploaded to a server somewhere out there. Although the GQ device connects to the server, no results (or anything else) are ever shown in the app. There is no apparent technical support, and the support forum focuses on other devices without any help for this one. GQ Electronics has not responded to my inquiries. Poor performance for an important instrument.I will try calibrating by placing the unit outside to see if that helps.UPDATED REVIEW:I found that the setting Config/Radon calibration/Calibration was out of whack. Out of the box. You should check to make sure the calibration values are set to defaults (unless you have radon gas standards). The recommended values for Calibration 1, Calibration 2, and Calibration 3 are shown in the online user manual. I have another continuous radon detector and a charcoal test going to an off-site laboratory. Those results should help get this thing calibrated, but guesswork plus trial and error will be involved since there's very little calibration guidance provided in the online manual. That should be included since it must be properly calibrated to get this device to make any sense.UPDATED Verdict:Recommended, but only with big caveats.I like it better now because it's doing something. It clearly needs more refined calibration, however. The app still doesn't work at all...blank.Two stars off because it arrived out of whack and needed an immediate calibration check and reset to work at all, and while further calibration is needed it's not clear how to proceed.

Initial impressions:This radon detector looks fairly large in the picture but it's the same height as a cell phone height wise. The unit has a beautiful display and is good for looking at the current radon measurements which occurs in about 5 minutes. I definitely can see a use for this product in multiple industries as it is very portable as I calibrate the unit outdoors with a USB-C battery pack.Issues:Entering a long Wi-Fi SSID using two buttons takes about 10 minutes. The first time I entered it, it did not take it, so I had to do it over again in pieces, not sure if there was a buffer issue entering the SSID but in any event eventually I got it to work. I had to create an online account on the manufacturer's website and then link the Account ID (User ID) and the Device ID on the device itself after connecting to Wi-Fi. This is not a plug-and-play type of device so you will need to be patient.Web experience:The data is logged in a excel like format on the manufacturer's website and you can export the page to CSV for the radon values over time. You can also choose whether to publish the data for all to see or keep it private for your eyes only.Readings:Currently have a radon mitigation system installed and have multiple radon detectors all showing Update:After calibrating the device outside it returned to levels in-line with what the other radon detectors are measuring. Conclusion:Lately, more manufacturers have been adding an LCD/screen to their devices or including the capability to send the data to your own server. I see a great benefit to the LCD portion of the radon detector as not all competitors have this feature and if the company that creates these tools goes out of business and the website access is lost, for this particular unit you have two options. First, the LCD display provides a clear readout of the current radon levels. Second, you can run your own web server and have the unit send the data directly to it.Recommendations:If there is anyway to improve entering the SSID outside of the two buttons I feel that would go a long way for the initial setup of the device. It does appear that the mobile app is under development; however, the important thing is we have multiple ways to get the data. I would recommend this device to anyone who is technical. If not technical and the primary use case is to check real-time radon levels in different locations via the LCD this would also be a great choice.
