I’ve been open baking my sourdough in another cast iron loaf pan, so I was excited to get this one with a lid. The loaves did so great! I got such a great rise having the cast iron lid. I was really impressed. I like how you can use each part independently if you did want to bake something separately, but it works great as a closed lid for bread. The pieces fit together well and were easy to season.

This cast iron sourdough loaf pan is perfect for home baking. It gives my bread an amazing crust and a perfect rise every time. The heavy-duty feel makes it seem like it’ll last forever. It does take a little time to preheat, but the results are so worth it. Definitely recommend if you’re serious about your sourdough. I prefer baking in this vs a round pan so I can slice the bread for sandwiches

First of all, I have to say I really like cast iron cookware. Cast iron, if properly cared for, can last for many generations to come. I have cast iron skillets that are over 100 years old. This cast iron loaf pan seems to be something that can last for at least a lifetime if it is properly cared for.Just like with cast iron skillets, you probably don't want to put this through the dishwasher very often because it messes up the seasoning. I always put all new cookware through the dishwasher when I first get it because I have no idea what it might have been exposed to at the factory, but if it's cast iron, I usually wash it by hand from then on.This did rust a little in the dishwasher, but I was able to clean all of the rust off with steel wool and then reseason it with something that I knew was safe. This way I didn't have to rely on whether the factory seasoning was safely done or not.I really like this bread pan because it's built like a tank, but it has a smaller capacity than it should to do a normal size loaf of bread. The outside looks big, but the inside is really smaller than it should be for most recipes. If you've never cooked bread using cast iron before, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Cast iron cooks more evenly than any other kind of bread pan, and the results have a better taste in my opinion. If you like stone baked pizza crust, you are sure to love bread cooked in cast iron, because the effect is very similar.

Heavy-duty pans. We have a bread machine, but sometimes you want to make something in the oven. For whatever reason, bread does not stick to this surface as much as it is likely to stick on our other 'normal' bread pans, which are not cast iron. We have not made meatloaf or anything other than bread, and we've not used the "lid" function, but it's a nice addition to the kitchen. Obviously heavy, and obviously stays HOT for quite a while after removing from the oven!

This is the first cast iron anything that I've ever had, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. Boy was I missing out. Never have I baked such wonderful breads. This is a game changer. No more do I have hot/cool spots! This is the most even baking I've ever seen. Things seem to taste better too, which is always a plus! You can easily make a 2-3 lb loaf in this pan as well. Its nonstick quality is great as well, but you MUST season it first. Just do a quick Google search; it's rather easy. Cleaning is that difficult either, and I avoid using abrasive cleaners. Lastly, the price point is fantastic for what you're getting. You will rarely find a pan of this quality for this price. A++

I really enjoyed this cast iron pan, I've been using it to make meatloaf. Let me tell you, I've been making some of the best meatloaves I've ever made. There's a reason cast iron is so acclaimed. I honestly really love this thing. It's heavy of course, it's cast iron, but it keeps the juices in, it heats everything evenly, and it's just wonderful. the size is perfect, and it works great. You know what, that's not a bad price for cast-iron either.Would I recommend this? Yes. For meatloaf or bread, I think this will take on the job and do it well.
