I thought this was going to just be a gimmick or a cheaply made joke. It is not! It works and works well. The hairs hold up pretty decent and just like a real bow it needs a resin. But you need to find a powdered resin. It holds up well against metal strings, and I play with Elixer lights and mediums. My two problems with this little bow is that:1. Once a few strings go, they all start to go. And I haven't figured out how I'll restring it the baby now yet. There's not a lot of info for where to find products to maintain this tool. And that's not fun when you want to continue using it. So it may be they (the manufacturers) just want you to buy another at a near-hundo price point.2. The white dust of the resin gets everywhere and it sticks to everything and makes your hand and skin feel gross and it's kinda hard to was off your skin and clothes. But other than that, this is a cool way to experiment with bowing and making some fun new sounds with your guitar!

I followed the rosining instructions, watched a few videos about it but it didn't work for me. I used it on my Martin guitar. If it doesn't work on a Martin...

I echo the other reviews already posted about this mini-bow for guitars regarding instructions and using the bow itself:1. Better instruction on care and use:I recommend that purchasers and users look up the proper way to take care of and use the bow. In order for it to work, you have to figure out how to rosin and tighten the bow.2. Perseverance & practice:As with others who've tested this bow out, it takes some time to master the art of bowing on any string. Once you figure out the right bow tension and how to apply the rosin on the bow evenly, then it's like learning violin: you have to figure out the right speed and pressure to drag the bow across the string. It'll sound like a Suzuki class, but you will eventually figure it out.As for the value, I ordered this because I enjoy collecting different musical instruments. If you're interested in exploring new ways to make music and sounds, this is definitely worth experimenting with.

It works; The guitar bow does produce a sound similar to a violin. My original intent for purchasing it was to compose and record string like comp lines for original song compositions. A drawback for me was its limitation to produce whole, and even half notes due to its short length. Lastly, but not least drawback is the bows excessive rosin needed to get the guitar strings to physically sound out 1/4 notes. As you may have guessed, it's messy Eg leaves gummy residue on strings, and deposits substantial powdery residue inside the guitar body via sound hole. I love my Martin acoustic and abandoned the guitar for that very reason.

The first time I saw this guitar bow on Youtube, I was really impressed and decided to get my own one. I have been playing guitar for decades, this small piece guitar bow adds fun, innovative addition to the world of guitar sounds. It did not sound right at first as I have not used any bow before. Yet after practicing hours, I started figuring out the skills of the right angle and pressures to apply to get a good sound. Remember to put rosin on strings before using and clear the strings with the included cloth after use. Take a little bit practice. I hope to become more skilled at using it. It opens up for new creative ways to play the guitar.

The effect and sound that comes from my guitars are amazing. To prep the rosin block simply take a NEW -UNUSED green cleaning pad that is found in just about an kitchen stock pile cupboard and scuff the surface of the rosin block. Then, when you stroke the bow over the block. The sticky rosin transfers to the bow strings. This should also be done to the guitar strings. Do not rub or touch the bow hairs or strings that are then loaded with rosin. It's meant to be sticky and uniformed across the length of the bow. HAVE FUN CREATING!!
