The case is very customizable to fit all sorts of thicknesses and lengths, and comes with more slots for magazines that you might have magazines for, lol. The hinges and clasps are solid, if not a little plasticky. I feel if anything will break eventually these will be the weak point but they look and feel solid enough to survive for quite a while unless you live a Bear Grylls lifestyle.Now, at certain price points I take the testing much more seriously. If someone is going to spend this much to protect thousands of dollars worth of firearms (if filled up and depending on brand) then it needs to stand up to a rigorous testing procedure.The first thing I noticed out of the box is the vacuum seal works very well, it took a little bit of muscle to pry it open for the first time and there was an audible hiss when the pressure was released. The padding does smell like all foam does when new, very chemically. If you are experienced with this kind of thing then you know that will fade with time. If you keep your pistols cleaned and lubed up it will last even shorter and take on that smell instead.The waterproofing is top notch. I first put it under the kitchen sink and the contents stayed dry. I went to submerge it in the bathtub, weighing it down with bricks so it would stay there. I tested it at 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, and finally a full hour. The contents were dry through all time periods.The next was the more puckering moment for me, the stress test. I put in ONE real firearm, a bunch of my son's airsoft pistols with a few Nerf shooters, and an egg in a Ziplock bag. For all the tests I dropped it holding it like a briefcase, and then dropped it so it fell flat on it's bottom. From standing height the contents survived unscathed. From the top of an 8 foot ladder the contents were also unscathed and even remained in their slots without coming out (even the egg!) Lastly I dropped it from the roof of my house. This last drop did mar the outside of the case, but the latches and clasps survived and the only thing on the inside that was damged was the egg. It didn't completely explode, just cracked and leaked out into the Ziplock bag.I also decide I wouls run it over with my truck. I took the real firearm out for this test, and replaced the egg. Surprisingly everything survived this as well, including the case. It did indent the lid slightly, but I am sure that wouldn't be permanent if you stuffed the inside full and closed it to bend it back out.Finally I just picked it up and threw the thing as far as I could down my street. FINALLY the case took damage. It landed on a corner and the plastic ended up with a hairline crack in it and one of the hinges took damage but still functions. One of the plastic clasps also broke and the cover for the air pressure release popped off.All in all a pretty tough case, and I would feel very comfortable keeping my collection in it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
