I bought one at walmart which was spendier. I love that this one doesn't have a suction base. I also love that it came with a lid. Suction the milk out and slap the lid on to keep your liquid gold safe. Must have. My breasts hate pumps. This is more natural to me. Suction it on and the milk just flows out.

I wanted to use it for quick relief when I woke up in the middle of the night and was engorged but my baby was sound asleep and not needing to nurse. It didn’t work well for that purpose for a couple of reasons. 1) It takes quite a while (10-15 minutes) to express as little as 1 oz of milk since I couldn’t ever get the suction very strong and it was basically working at a dripping speed. 2) I only bought one so whatever side I wasn’t using it on would leak and I still had to use a nursing pad. 3) It was very challenging the one time I tried to use it while nursing to catch the leakage from the side my baby wasn’t nursing on because I had to hold my baby with one hand and use the other to keep the Haakaa on the other side. The suction seemed to decrease quickly and it is really easy to accidentally bump it which means the milk that I had expressed poured out all of baby and me. This also happened more than once when I wasn’t trying to simultaneously nurse my baby but just using it in my own. Incredibly frustrating. So, I think that if you had two of them it might work better because you could relieve both sides at once which wouldn’t take as long and you wouldn’t have to worry about using a nursing pad on one side while using the Haakaa on the other side. I am not sure how to get better suction - maybe there’s a YouTube video tutorial that would be more helpful than the written instructions it came with. All in all, it wasn’t very expensive but wasn’t worth the hassle for me. My supply has adjusted to the decreased night time feedings now so I don’t need it anymore, but if I have another baby I would probably just get up and pump for a few minutes. Maybe with a manual pump? That would honestly be more efficient and wouldn’t take that much more effort, especially since it’s much less likely that I would spill the milk I had pumped, which was definitely the most frustrating part of using the Haakaa since it happened several different times.

This is a must have for all nursing moms! If you are having second thoughts about this STOP!! This is worth every penny. I am now exclusively pumping since I am back at work but I nursed while on maternity leave. I was able to start a stash using this while I was home nursing. I would get anywhere from 3-6oz every use, depending on how long my LO nursed for. It is easy to use and easy to clean. This will forever be my go to baby shower gifts for any of my friends planning on breast feeding.

Just used this pump to collect leaking milk from the other boob while my baby is latching and got a lot more milk than when I only used a breast shell! Love it and will get another one. The suction is great however I noticed when the pump is almost full, it tends to lose a bit of suction. Which makes sense I guess.

Before purchasing this item, I thought I was taking a chance. The Haakaa works exactly the way it’s suppoesd to. I really don’t like pumping. This is so much easier for when I need extra milk & I’m home with my baby. I would recommend this item for mom’s who want to store milk, but don’t want to bring that pump out to do so. I still have to pump when I’m away from my baby at work, but not when I’m with her due to the Haakaa.

I love my Haakaa pump! I've only had it for about 3 days, but I'm already so glad I bought it. It makes building up a freezer stash so much easier since I can use it while I'm nursing my baby at the same time. It's also easy to clean and dries quickly (only one piece plus the lid), which means I'm soooo much more likely to use it!!! With my electric pump, I don't always get around to cleaning and drying all the different parts right away, which means I'm less likely to keep pumping consistently. Another great plus, it's portable! Yes I can take it with me on the go, but even more importantly, I can walk around and do stuff without being chained down to a whole electric pump apparatus for a pumping session. I am home full time with my baby but I need to keep pumped milk on hand so that my husband can feed the baby while I work from home part-time. So I just put the Haakaa on the breast that the baby's not nursing on while I feed him at the same time. Once you suction it on, you don't really have to manually pump it with your hand or anything, you can just let the milk collect on its own. This is great for my situation because finding time to sit down and pump at a separate time when not feeding the baby has proven difficult for me. There are already a million things I have to do after he goes to bed, so now pumping is not one of them! Yay! I'm glad I decided to get this one that comes with the lid too because once it's filled up, I cover it and set it on the table until baby is done feeding. Then I transfer it to a milk storage bag. Since I only get a few ounces at a time (1-3 usually), I keep it in the fridge and keep adding more to it until I get at least 4 or 5 in the bag before freezing it. As other reviewers have pointed out, the measurements on the pump are off. The 3 oz. line is actually 2 oz. I used one of my Medela bottles to compare and figure it out. This doesn't really bother me as long as I know the difference. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the purchase and couldn't be more excited to have found this solution for my pumping needs. If you need to pump larger volumes multiple times a day, you'll probably still want to use an electric pump, but if you're like me (or just want a simple manual option in addition to electric), this is great!
