I just got the ice maker today and it’s working like a charm. Makes the large bullets in about 7 minutes and I’m really impressed at how big they are. No one had compared the bullets to regular ice cubes, so I did.I’ll update later and let you know how it’s going.

Looks to be a nice machine. To start, it was shipped inside of a secondary box upside down from Amazon. I picked it up off of my porch sideways. I let it sit for 4 days to allow the machine to settle properly. After 1 full week, it is yet to fill the bin with ice. It drops a load every coyote of hours. Even when I don't use any ice, it shows not fill. I am returning this and buying a different ice maker.

Hamilton Beach Bullet Countertop Ice Maker Machine, Makes 26 Lbs/Day, 9 Cubes Every 6 Minutes, Self-Clean Function, for RV, Office, Kitchen, Dorm, Makes 2 Sizes, Brushed Stainless Steel (86152): $86.42 as of 03/17/25We have a family camp without potable water (we pump out of the lake for general needs), and making trays of ice in the fridge is tedious. Plus if we have a gathering we are always running out, and no convenient store nearby to pick up bags. Long way of saying that I've been meaning to pick up an ice maker for years. This is our first, and it works fantastic! The first batch of ice came out in about 5 minutes, but on average it flips a new batch about every 8-9' for the large size cubes, filling the basket up in about 45'. It is pretty quiet with a noise level on par with a small dorm fridge so it won't really interfere with your day.The controls/display are quite simple: power, low water, and ice size selection. The ice itself is typical for these machines, "bullet" style with a hollow core. The difference between small & large is noticeable but not huge. I had to put them side by side to see the difference (reference attached photo). When the first batch runs, the ice sometimes comes out in slightly varying sizes, but as it continues to operate they become consistent. The stainless steel finish collects fingerprints and smudges if you look at it wrong, and getting the huge metallic warning sticker off the clear lid was a royal pain. It took some firm and prolonged rubbing with 90% isoproponal to get all the glue residue off.Just remember, as with any countertop ice maker, these units do not keep the ice frozen, you need to transfer them to your freezer. All in all a great little machine.

Review of B0DJ9H9MSY - Hamilton Beach Bullet Countertop Ice Maker Machine, Stainless:IMPORTANT: DO NOT just take this out of the box, put it on the counter and turn it on! If you do, it might fail very quickly (I can tell you this out of experience). It contains refrigerant which must settle to where it belongs. During shipping it's turned every which way and if turned on before the refrigerant settles, the refrigerant will go to places it shouldn't go and that can kill it quickly and irreparably. The instructions say to put it on the counter and let it sit for two hours before turning it on. I say give it two days just to be sure the refrigerant has settled to its proper locations.I had an ice maker similar to this several years ago and it worked great for about a year, then I washed it. It did not have a bottom drain like this one, so I turned it over to pour the water out. Then I turned it back on later that day. It worked but the freezing fingers on one end didn't work. Then a few weeks later, fewer worked, until a month went by and none worked. Coincidentally, we had a refrigeration specialist work on our refrigerator and I asked him what could have happened to my ice maker, and he explained how it failed. He said people would sometimes move refrigerators on their side, then stand them back up and turn them right back on and they wouldn't work. He said it's okay to turn them on their side, as long as you allow a few days for the refrigerant to fully settle before turning on. Turning on before the refrigerant settles will cause the compressor to push the refrigerant into areas from where the refrigerant cannot return, even if you give it weeks to settle. Always allow time for the refrigerant to settle after moving or tilting the device. This ice maker thoughtfully has a bottom drain -- use it, even if you think it'd be easier to just turn the ice maker on its side to drain the water. In any case, always give the refrigerant several hours to settle before turning the ice maker back on after moving it.Both my old ice maker and this one worked the same way -- water would freeze around metal fingers creating a piece of ice shaped like a cup. The ice cup has lots of surface area so it can cool drinks very efficiently. This ice maker can produce small or large ice, which is the same procedure except for large size the ice freezes around the fingers so the walls of the cups are thicker. You fill the water reservoir up to the max line, and the ice maker pumps the water into the ice making chamber, which is basically a small upper reservoir where the freezing fingers reside. A chute captures the ice and pushes it into the ice tray above the bottom reservoir. There is little insulation, so that ice slowly melts and drips down into the main reservoir, whereupon it recycles. It's an efficient system for times you want a steady production of ice, such as at a party. Being a countertop icemaker, it can be located anyplace there's an electrical outlet, and where there's a party going on. It's not really intended for 24/7 icemaking.I like this icemaker. It's attractive, easily portable (keep it upright when moving), and can produce an ample amount of ice to keep a small party supplied. It does make a bit of noise when the compressor is on, but you wouldn't hear it over the music.
