After upgrading to HDMI-only streaming devices incompatible with our component-input television, this converter has rescued thousands in potential replacement costs through flawless signal translation. The scaler function brilliantly optimizes output for our older display's capabilities, delivering remarkably crisp 1080p images without the pixelation or aspect ratio issues common with cheaper adapters. Audio extraction works perfectly through the dedicated RCA outputs, eliminating the need for separate converters or complicated workarounds. Installation required absolutely no technical knowledge—truly plug-and-play operation that immediately restored full functionality. Power requirements are minimal, drawing from standard USB ports without requiring additional wall outlets in our already-crowded entertainment center. After several weeks connecting multiple streaming devices to our legacy television, conversion quality remains consistently excellent with no signal drops, resolution fluctuations, or synchronization issues between audio and video. Beyond television applications, this converter has proven equally valuable for projectors and professional displays with similar component-only limitations. For users bridging modern sources with legacy displays, this conversion solution delivers exceptional performance that extends the useful life of otherwise obsolete equipment.

I had two good hopes for this device in regards to uses with an older plasma TV I keep in the basement that got the HDMI board taken out by a nearby lightning strike. Yes no surge protector. Again old TV in the basement again and wasn't on my list and I use for background when working down there. Analog inputs still work fine on the TV.Signal/picture is not bad and the sound works. About as simple to hook up as anyone that grew up during the color coded RCA cable era can think. The USB cable type, ugh, the only decent thing I can say is atleast I have another spare for my PS controllers to charge but an outdated cable type that is shorter than short (1 foot). But it is workable.Planned uses:1. Have an Iphone with the HDMI pigtail. No go as almost anything out that pigtail through an app recognizes the device as not a TV and the mess of copyright protection will shut it down.2. HDMI output from a DVR head unit with a splitter. No issues and works fine.Worth the money to keep TVs that did not have or lost HDMI inputs. But not a workaround in other ways.

I have an older plasma television that has an issue with the HDMI connection. Sometimes, it works, and sometimes, it does not. I currently have it hooked to a PC, and it only occasionally gets used on the weekends. I have used YPbPr in the past with my AV system, so I already had the cables I needed.Everything you will need, except the YPbPr cable, is included. The parts seem well made and sturdy, and nothing feels cheap or fragile.Setup is straightforward. There is only one place that everything will fit into, and the YPbPr spots are color-coded to match the cables. The converter has a power pack that needs to be plugged in to get power to the converter. Once plugged in and active I had to press the Resolution button on the converter to get to a signal that showed up correctly. At first, I was getting messed up horizontal lines on the display. Once I got it around to 1080p and matched the display on the TV, everything became clear. This particular computer uses a simple Intel HD built-in graphics, so the picture was not fantastic, but acceptable. The sound comes through very clearly and was the main thing I was interested in working best. Later, I tried it with a higher-end computer with a dedicated graphics card, and the picture was much cleaner. This converter does what I intended and seems well made. If anything changes in the near future, I will update the review.

If you have an older TV that still works well but lacks HDMI inputs, this HDMI to Component signal converter might just be what you need. From its detailed product description, you can easily determine if this device fits your setup requirements.InstallationInstalling this converter is easy - plugs (7) and play. All you need to do is connect the HDMI cable from your input source and then attach the component cables (RGB and Audio plugs) to the output ports, matching the colors accordingly. Connect power and it’s up.PerformanceAlthough the converter has a button to select different resolutions, mine automatically configured to 1920x1080, which is the perfect setting for my 2004 Panasonic Plasma TV. The image quality is very good, making the viewing experience enjoyable on this older model.DrawbackOne major drawback for me is the short, 3ft power cord, which is a USB-A to USB-C with power adapter. It limits me to having the converter no more than 2 shelves from the UPS power supply.Overall ImpressionIn conclusion, this converter is a handy device that promises to extend the life of an older TV for a few more years. I believe it is a good value.Note: I have had three units of this type converter over the past 10 years. Two out of the three lasted 3+ years and I wanted this one as a backup. Since I had to install to test it, this one is now the primary. If it has a problem or a shorter life, I will modify my review.
