I work on a lot of older equipment and am always fighting with build up of old grease and oil. I use heat to soften it up before I scape it off and then blast it with cleaner. This gun works great! seems really well built and has held up to some pretty rough treatment. I like that I can choose from 1 of 6 heat setting as sometimes I have to work up close and can't move the gun very much and other times I can't get close so have to put it on high. So much better than my old gun which only had high and low setting.Heats up really fast which is nice when I'm in an awkward position and want to just get it done. I have used the curved attachment to do some of those wire splicers that have the solder that melts. It worked so much better than my Bic lighter or the propane torch. I feel this should last me quite a while which is a good feeling.

Makes projects easier. This is the first heat gun I have used but I can now see why people like them. This one is easy to use and adjust to a variety of situations or projects. I find it effective for my needs and the quality of the product seems adequate. It is holding up well to repeated use.

I had big plans for a detailed review with temperature readings to validate the settings...but I somehow misplaced my thermometer so I will have to go by gut feel.I really like the fact that this heat gun can stand up on its own - I regularly need to heat up heat-shrink tubing and often need to hold the parts as well as the heat source - one of many tasks in the shop that require at least 3 hands! This simple feature makes such a difference! I just used this heat gun to quickly heat-shrink a couple wire connections and did not have to hold the heat gun - awesome! As I said, I have lost my thermometer, but the temperatures feel much lower than the dial indicates since I can hold my hand pretty close to the nozzle when set at 100 degrees Celsius and this setting did not even start to shrink the tubing. I cranked it up to 300 degrees before it really started to work well and even when set at 600 degrees it shrank the tubing, but did not melt it.I believe that my heat shrink tubing is supposed to melt at about 300 degrees C so either it is way over spec'd or this heatgun is not as hot as indicated on the dial.It still works for everything that I need it for, it blows a fair bit of air, and I LOVE the cooldown feature! This is where you set the switch on the 1st level and let the fan run for a bit to cool down the device after use. No need to try and figure out where you can put the red-hot tool without burning down your shop! Just stand it on its back, set it on cooldown and in just a moment it is cool enough to hold and just another moment is cool enough to pack away. Brilliant!

We use this heat gun for a variety of applications, including encaustic painting (a type of wax-based art), shrink-wrapping items, and electrical work with shrink connectors. There's a lot to like about this heat gun, but it misses the mark on one very important aspect. The overall size and weight are pretty reasonable, and I appreciate the ability to hinge the power cable, depending on how you're using it.I like that the heat gun can be set up to sit on a table and is self-supporting, which it does exceptionally well. However, the switches are strange and take some getting used to. With other heat guns, the first position is typically for low heat with a low fan speed, and the second position provides higher heat with a higher fan speed. This one works differently: no matter what temperature you set it to, the first setting only provides very low heat with a steady fan. You get the desired heat level with the dial when you switch to the second position. It's worth noting that the first position is only for cooling down. When using an infrared camera for testing, the dial's temperature was closer than I expected. Although still significantly lower, it does give a relative idea of the increase in heat with an increase in the temperature setting. On its highest setting, the heat gun reaches relatively high temperatures, which should be more than adequate for paint removal and sufficient for heat-shrinking tasks.I also appreciate that it comes with a nozzle accessory set, which is of fair quality and would cost a few bucks if purchased separately.Where it falls short for me is the plastic used for the entire heat gun. It feels particularly hard and is not very user-friendly, resulting in a less secure grip. Given how well everything else works, it's only fair to deduct a star for this issue. This would have easily been a five-star item if the manufacturer had used slightly better plastic or added an overmold for improved grip and control.I still feel that, though not perfect, it's a very good value at a fair price.

General Comments:I have a 20,000-gallon inground pool and an underground irrigation system. Last year, I reconfigured some 1.5-inch fittings on my pool equipment to install an inline chlorinator. While the 1.5-inch plastic pipe was easy to measure and cut, it was a real pain to get the pipe to fit snugly onto the barbed PVC fittings. I tried using Hayward Jack's Multilube and brute strength, but the pipe would only cover about ¼ of the surface of the barbed fittings. After an hour of frustration, a neighbor lent me a rudimentary heat gun.Procedure:Measure and cut: Measure and cut the 1.5-inch pipe as squarely as possible. Use masking tape around the circumference of the pipe to create a cut line and cut with a hacksaw.Lube and heat: Apply Jack’s Lube to one end of the barbed fitting. Gently heat the first few inches of the plastic pipe with the heat gun until it becomes pliable—avoid high heat to prevent damaging the pipe.Fit and cool: Once pliable, push the pipe onto the fitting until it bottoms out on the raised ridge, about 1.75 inches down the PVC fitting. Let it cool; the pipe will firmly grasp the barbed fittings once cooled.Repeat & clamp: Repeat the process for the other half of the fitting. For efficiency, place two stainless steel clamps loosely onto the plastic pipes before heating, or apply afterward.I used my neighbor's heat gun for this project, and now I own the AreoHeat Heat Gun with 6 Precise Temperature Settings.Bottom Line:Living in Ontario, Canada, where temperatures are currently around -19 degrees Celsius, I have several spring projects coming up. These include installing a flow meter on my pool equipment and repairing my irrigation system. The AreoHeat Heat Gun will make these tasks efficient and less frustrating. The time saved will more than offset the reasonable cost of the heat gun, making it a win-win for me!The AreoHeat Heat Gun is a versatile tool with many features I look forward to exploring.A 5 star for sure!

I have been needing a heat gun for quite a while now, and finally decided to give it a go. This one is a great deal, and comes with a good amount of accessories, which is nice. I got it to help me dry the paint faster on my work projects, so I could get more done without having to wait on the paint to dry. It does that, and more! Now that I have it, I can think of a lot of projects this would come in handy for. A couple of things--it is a bit bigger than I thought it would be, which is fine, but harder for me to hold for very long, and it is a very hard casing. I rubberized casing like I have on many tools would make it more comfortable, but it's not a deal breaker. I haven't used the accessories yet, but I can tell they are going to enable me to do more projects than I had originally planned. It gets hot fast, and adjusts very easily on the dial to give you just the right amount of heat. Looks well made, and works great so far!

The heat gun was appropriately priced and got the job done. It came with all the needed accessories to make the job easier. Four different nozzles and a paint scraper that is pretty basic. There are two temperature settings and a temperature adjustment knob. It also has a built in kickstand which is nice as you get it up to temperature or set it down between uses. For functionality, the temperature knob is in Celsius, and a switch for a high and low fan speed. I did not verify temperatures, and worked off feel alone, it was nifty being able to dial it down if I felt the heat was too much for the project. I would recommend for those small jobs around the house and DIY projects.

I like this better than the one I got a while back at a discount hardware store. For me, the pros are:- Wide body, good insulation from the heating elements, keeps the handle and body cool.- The flat back is specifically made yo be able to rest it with the nozzle looking up, which reduces the chances of damaging surfaces.- Adjustable temperature settings. Not the most precise but gets the job done, with a dial to adjust the target temperature.- The power switch has a run setting (II) and a cool-down setting (I). The cool-down setting keeps a low, safe temperature but the heat is not completely off.- Comes with several attachments, which I appreciate. Makes some jobs a lot easier focusing the heat. One caveat for me is that the blower has a single speed, but it's not much of an issue.Note that the temp. setting is in Celsius only. Also not an issue but a consideration.Overall, for the price it's a great tool. It heats fast. The cool-down setting and the ability to rest with the nozzle up are great. Also I like that one can attach a cord to the handle, so it can be useful if one has to climb up with it.

This gun has easy operation. Is a 2 stage switch. One is for heat and one is for cool down. Comes with multiple attachments. It does get hot and works well. The temperature dial does work, but is not very accurate. (4 stars) You can get a closer reading with the narrowest nozzle.Gun is shaped so it can face up when not in use or as a cool down.Overall a decent heat gun.
