This lock set up works really well. As soon as I got it I put it on a door to try it out. It was simple to install and when I tried opening the door it didn't budge. I'm glad I got this.

Only works on some doors. If there is a space between the door and it is not tight it is not effective. Strong metal if the design worked.

When I first got my hands on this Heavy Duty Portable Door Lock, I was genuinely impressed. Testing it out at home, it exceeded my expectations, fitting securely and adding an extra layer of safety for traveling. Excited by its effectiveness, I decided it would be my travel companion for an upcoming trip to Indonesia, anticipating the same sense of security in unfamiliar surroundings.However, my adventure with the lock took a turn I hadn't anticipated. Arriving in Indonesia, I found myself facing a challenge - the prevalence of sliding doors in accommodations, against which my trusty lock was, unfortunately, incompatible. This discovery was a bit of a letdown, as the peace of mind I had at home couldn't be replicated due to the different door designs.To add to the adventure, the lock also caught the attention of airport security in both Hong Kong and Bali. Each time, I had to explain its purpose, a process that was both unexpected and a tad inconvenient. Though the officers were understanding once I explained, it was a reminder that what works seamlessly in one context might not in another.Despite these hiccups, I remain optimistic about the lock's utility on future travels, specifically my upcoming trip to Boston. The experience in Indonesia, while not what I hoped, hasn't dampened my belief in the lock's value. It's a robust, reliable tool that I'm sure will serve me well in environments with more traditional doors.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE HIGH QUALITY WHEN I RECEIVED THIS. I have other locks like this that are cheaply made. THIS ONE IS VERY WELL MADE - MADE WITH HEAVY METAL, NOT PLASTIC OR LIGHT ALUMINUM LIKE OTHER PORTABLE DOOR LOCKS- STRONG CHAIN - THICK METAL HING PLATE. This is the best made lock I have seen like this. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT.

The lock comes shrink-wrapped in a jewelry bag with no instructions, warranty information, or support contact.Even coming back to the product page to review the instructions didn’t totally clear things up, so I’ve included a picture of step 1: fitting in one of the ends of the doorframe plate. Closing the door after that is very clumsy and took a few tries, but I did manage it. After that, fitting the arrowhead shaped lock into the downward-pointing position was easy and did firmly close the door that previously had no lock on it.I think this would be good reinforcement on your bedroom door in a roommate situation or hotel room, but there’s no real way of knowing if your exact door will work until you test it out.Worth mentioning that if someone is very determined to get in and willing to bust down the door, take it off its hinges, or find another entrance (or window), this lock won’t help. But it’s always good to layer your security to deter issues before they happen.I will be keeping this and plan to use it when I travel solo.
