Brinks products are the best - 10 out of 10! This is a heavy-duty door closer with an auto-close. It's perfect for a home garage door or patio. I always trust Brinks and this closer is no exception! Seamless look, works great.

This all-metal door closer is the perfect match for your residential needs. It should handle most hollow or solid core doors of up to 36" width. It closes with smooth quiet fluid like motion. You can adjust the speed of closing travel and have your door close exactly how you want. It is compact so it will hardly be noticed once installed above your door. You can open the door in either direction. Stop your doors from slamming or being left open by the kids.

The door from our house to our attached garage had spring loaded hinges to close it. The spring tension normally closes it with a BANG when fully opened. We have cats, and I have been concerned about one of them being in the threshold when the door slams shut. And sometimes the door won’t fully close when there was wind hitting the front of the garage. Since the spring tension is weakest when the door is closed, the cats can slip a paw in the gap to open it enough to slip through. I ordered this for a more reliable door closure.Installation was easy using the templates. Since there is decorative molding around the door that is not flat, I used a couple of thick washers under two of the screws so it was level. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as I had hoped. That door is weather-stripped, and regardless of how I have adjusted the arm, this will not generate enough force to latch the door. As a test no amount of force I put on the arm would latch the door. There just isn’t enough leverage from where the arm attaches to the door. The one advantage is that it does close the door against the wind force so the cats cannot sneak out. But with it adjusted to generate the most force, the door is now quite difficult to open even though the force is insufficient to latch it closed. I’m going to have to readjust it to less force so the door is easier to open again. The weather stripping is part of the door jam, and gives a tight seal. I don’t want to remove it to allow the 120+ summertime air to infiltrate into the house. We may have to get used to just giving the door a shove to latch it after it has closed.I’m sure this would work perfectly for an interior door or one without weather-stripping. I’m taking off one star because it doesn’t work as expected for this installation.UPDATE: I replaced this unit with a Brinks heavy duty commercial closer that has an adjustable rapid close at the end of travel to overcome the resistance of the weatherstripping. I moved this to an interior shop door, where it works perfectly after adding a dab of grease to the face of the latch.

This heavy duty door closer is heavy. Our house mostly has white doors, so I went with the white one. I also placed it at our door going to our garage that we always seem to forget to close. I was met with a surprise when I was drilling it on. Our doors has curved door frame trim. One setback was that the lever/ forearm attachment spot was curved. My wife was pissed off when I carved into it. The moment I fixed the screws and tried sampling the door by opening closing it, the trim got pulled out. Not taking anything away from the door closer, it was great. The only issue is to also consider how your house is made.

This one is not as ugky as sone of them are but its a must have at my house. No one knows how to close the doir at my house and everyone blames it on the dog. I know that its worth the money because it will save tons on the heating and air by keeping the door closed. Its easy to install and it works good. It dont slam, there is virtually no noise at all. It is adjustable so you can adjust it to your own preferences.

Office door will stay closed now. This will be perfect to keep my door shut and not fling open when people get too excited. Seems heavy duty and robust. Love the finish

Installed this closer on my patio door, because my kids kept leaving the door open and letting bugs get in the house. It now closes the door on it's own every time it gets opened. Super nice and functional. Highly recommend this, good quality.
