This is the first leather I ever bought for leather crafting. It works for stamping when wet or for lighter impressions - I don't know what that other reviewer's issue was. But truly this is not made for carving. I use my etching pen on it, but it does not stand the swivel knife. At all. Literally just scratched up the leather. I don't know why. Currently looking for the right leather for carving with swivel knife.I probably won't buy this leather again because they doubled the price since I bought it less than 2 years ago. Every time I look, the price has gone up even more. But it was fun while it lasted. I like the color a lot.Oh, one other thing - I found that applying beeswax finish to it turned it almost completely black, which just ruined the coloring that this item comes with and made the etchings and stampings hard to see. Would not recommend that.

I needed some thing a little thinner as I need it to fold over and lay flat. Good quality leather, but too thick for what I needed it for.

I don’t know a lot about leather, but I bought these sheets to make some baby moccasins. It was a little too thick for that purpose (my sewing machine had trouble going through 2 or more layers) but it worked out! Good quality

If you want quality, smooth faced leather, this company is a great go-to. The sheets had no irregularities in thickness, texture, or color. I ordered the heavy weight, and was pleased that it was very thick and substantial, but still easy to work with and not overly stiff. I used it for reinforcement for a wing/tail harness on a costume, and it was more pleasant next to my skin than the other webbing materials I used. It stands up to abuse well, and was not too hard to fix rivets to. Overall, the pieces I received were very high quality.

This is a nice quality of leather, definitely sturdy and thick, but I was truly looking for more uniform marbling that kind of repeats.It could be useful for many things, nonetheless, but I had to reject it for making thimbles because it’s too thick and not soft on the underside. I can see it as a man’s wallet, belt, keychain, or something else requiring sturdiness, or perhaps at the base of purse or a bag for added protection.Moccasin or slipper soles, perhaps.
