If you do a lot of hand-tool intensive woodworking, good sharpening tools are a must. This jig greatly simplifies the process of keeping a good edge on most types of flat-blade chisels and plane irons. It's well made, seems to be of good materials, and is relatively easy to use, once you get the hang of it. To that point, the instructions aren't the best, so you may want to check for some on-line instructions demonstrating technique on a similar type of jig. You'll also need to provide your own oil or water type sharpening stones of choice.

I'm going to say this works pretty good.used this to put a new edge on my chisels and I found out how off they really were. I would recomend this.

Not great. I received the delivery but it's missing the two extra wheels ( need them for narrow chisels).

I'm impressed with the build quality of this but that's about it. The first thing I noticed was they only sent one of the pins for setting the angle, And they didn't send The smooth face rollers that are supposed to come with it. The print out that is supposed to be instructions, is gibberish and a few photos 🤷 luckily I already knew how these work because I've used a similar setup before. But without all the parts it's kind of hard to get what you're expecting out of the product. It's pretty sad that this was being sent to someone specifically for them to review it and you couldn't check the box to make sure that all the parts were even in it? And then the instructions? Not sure what happened there but not a good way to get reviews for your product. This brand must have no QC or anyone to do translating and help with their instructions that should be included. I think I'm being generous with three stars because I can still use it with some of my chisels. But I'm definitely not going to say it's a value for money because who knows what will show up in the box if you leave that many parts out of mine. You guys need to get a better plan together using some of this feedback and try again.

This honing system for chisels and planes is very well made. The system is actually for setting up the chisel/plane to be honed exactly at the angle desired but it does not have any actual honing material - sandpaper, diamond or water stone, etc. does not come with this system.I will say, however, for what it is made for, this system is probably one of the best systems I've found for setting the honing angle. There are other systems like this one that set the angle of the honing desired by placing the chisel at the proper length within the honing guide so the edge of the chisel meets the sharpening material at the correct angle. But this system goes the next step by making their guides out of extremely thick, heavy duty aluminum and using exactly machined placement pins to set the edge stop at exactly the right length. Other systems are built of seemingly less robust materials.I really liked how the honing guide is built with robust blocks of aluminum that have a machined groove within them so the chisel will sit exactly as needed. The honing guide wheels are smooth and polished.To use this system:Simply place the honing guide against the length guide, place the chisel within the honing guide. Set the length guide to the angle desired by placing the length stop at the machined/etched marking desired. Place the locking pin into the hole that lines up between the length stop and the length guide base. Then tighten the stop screw to secure it all together. Push the chisel (that is in the honing guide) into the length guide until the length guide stop meets the edge of the chisel at the length(angle) desired. Screw the honing guide knurled nob to tighten the honing guide around the chisel. Be sure to push the chisel flush with the grooves in the honing guide to ensure proper seating of the chisel in the honing guide while setting the length of the chisel. Flip the honing guide right-side up and start rolling the honing guide along the sharpening material of your choice. Easy to write it here but these step-wise instructions are really missing from the instruction sheet provided.I won't take a star off because these steps are a bit intuitive but I did learn that ensuring the chisel is flush within the honing guide grooves can affect the measured length/angle by up to 0.5 degrees if the setup is not properly tightened together. I also measured the honing guide to ensure that the setup was exactly the same whether the chisel was placed in the honing guide with the screw on the left or right. Either way worked exactly the same.

I'm always afraid of sharpening my chisels, knowing I'm going to screw up the bevel angle. I knew I had to get one of these to ensure accuracy and consistency. The kit is very well equipped and constructed from solid alunimum components. The gauge to determine the bevel angle is also made from metal with clear labels providing not only the angles, but what their intended purposes are. The clamp slides easily and stays square without a hint of jiggliness or looseness, the threaded bolt turns smoothly, and the wheels spin freely without any wobbling. Setting the angle fixture is fast and consistent with clear angle labels and pins to secure the chisel length. There are even holes in the fixture to mount it. It's a very well made jig with clear and legible labels, excellent machining, and durable finishing/coating. The only negative was the instruction manual, which was extremely lacking in details, clarity, and grammar. Fortuantely, there are how-to videos available and once you know, you'll know forever.

Worth far more! This is my 5th honing jig in 6 months. All boxes checked.1. Stays square2.Easy to set up and use3. Quality materials used to build!4. Love the option to put wheels inside or out.5. Handle doesn't loosen while honing, even when pressure is applied.6. No need to tighten with pliers, the size of the knob allows your fingers to get enough torque.7.Great price, just buy it!!

This is a pretty sturdy set for honing chisels, but the instructions leave a bit to be desired. Honestly, given the typos in the actual listing, this doesn't really surprise me. The care was put into making the tool robust, not in the "how to". Once you figure out how to use this, it does a great job, since it can set your chisel at the proper angle for use on a sharpening stone without wobbling around.
