It works great. I had this problem for over three weeks as soon as I put the UV light my water got Crystal Cleo from one day to another. Don’t take my word for it. If you need it, buy it in convince yourself great piece of equipment and cheap for the work it does

The UV light is working great in my 10g tank. The tank is close to a window and therefore it's a constant battle with algae. I read about the UV lights and figured I would give one a try. After a week of being in the tank there is a noticeable decrease in green algae. The unit is easy to install and not very big so it does not take up much room. I do however wish the windows on the enclosure were a bit larger or more forward-facing to hit all areas of the tank. I have it positioned vertically in my tank and the area directly in front of it does not catch the UV light. I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for a solution to green algae.

I have a reef tank almost a year old. At the moment there was nothing serious going on other than a lot of algae but thought I'd give this a try to see what happens. I didn't observe any visible changes and didn't really expect to. However I have several sensors and noticed the ORP in my tank essentially crashed shortly after adding the light. I went from around 500 to almost 400. 500 is considered high. So it clearly killed something microscopic. The tank itself seems fine so no ill effects from this.

I started to get string algae growing on my flame moss and some other stem plants in my tank. I ordered this UV light in hopes that it would help clear that up, after two weeks of use- I did not notice any difference. The string algae is still there. In those two weeks, I kept my aquarium light off to prevent any further algae growth. Made sure that I had this UV light close to my filter for good water flow.Maybe this only works on green water and not algae on plants?I do like the timer function and the ability to rotate the cover to obscure the UV light from the fish.

I'm a big fan of all things Hygger so when I started searching for a UV light to control algae in the new aquarium I'm setting up this was the first brand I searched for. Nothing is worse than setting up a new aquascape, getting everything looking perfect with live plants and hardscape, just to have everything overrun with green algae and cloudy water. I figured I'd get a head start by buying one of these BEFORE setting up the aquarium this time and hopefully will just not have to deal with it. The product is extremely well made, as I've come to expect from Hygger products. I have tested the light and it works perfectly. I'll need more time to test it once my aquarium is up and running but for now, just basing my review on the quality of the product, I can say its top-notch and a lot of thought went into the design. I can always count on Hygger for quality aquarium gear at an affordable price.

I have a chronic issue with algae in one of my tanks—I made the mistake of using a rock from a local creek. I've been battling it ever since. It seems like its been working—the water is definitely cleaner, but the algae is still growing on the glass. My tank is not big enough to put it in the filter as the unit is pretty bulky, so I've put it by the inlet. It seems functional enough, the black goes with the other tank components, and it was not too expensive.

Love having the ability to sterilize the water and make it safer for my fish even in a small tank. This fits in the back of my AIO (you can also put in sumo if that’s the style you have but remember this is for smaller tanks) and since it’s in the tank, I have it in the closed position so the uv does not harm the fish (water still flows through and is sterilized). As my tank was handling algae relatively well already, this was a good option for me and as I’ve been increasing the bio load and lighting capacity, I haven’t seen an increase in algae growth yet so I’m pretty sure this is helping to keep it at bay. You can put this in the back filter section as well and keep it open for a flow that would deal better with a tank that has a bad problem. Know that uv sterilizers only kill living, floating organisms so you will still have to deal with algae on your rock and sand another way if you have issues there. This also will help with parasites and give you a better chance of keeping your fish healthy. Another good Hygger product for the beginner hobbyist who is learning to care for fish and corals and is slowly working their way up to larger reefing!
