I had bought the 20 foot handrail that comes in three pieces with two splice unitsThe very fact that you take out these inspection screws to tension up the splash units is QualityI bought the bronze one and it’s attractive and the manufacturing of this will be more than strong enough along our sidewalk as we walk in the snowI think this is amazing I highly recommend itWatch the installationvideo firstI repeat watch the installation video first

The product was mediocre. The screws were soft metal and easily stripped. Set screws went right through the railing, as once removed they were too small for their return holes. Worst of all were the splice instructions. The set screws and hole openings did not match. So there is no way to screw down the splice in the attaching rail. This was an engineering flaw. AND with completely unusable instructions, made for an incredibly frustrating installation. For $300+ it was not worth it. I was planning to get a matching rail for my other steps and would not but these again. If they improved their engineering and actually decided to write installation instructions that a consumer could use, the product might have value.

I installed the 10 foot railing for my basement steps and it's a great and sturdy product. But just a heads up to other would-be buyers. There's a lot more work involved to install it than is explained by the seller, and you have to go to the seller website, find the particular model and read the instructions ( no video I could find anywhere, which is unusual these days.)First thing to know, you have to drill holes into the metal rail to attach the support brackets. The instructions claim the self-tapping screws will do the job, but that didn't prove out for me. You need pilot holes. Second, the metal splicer to connect the 5 foot rail sections is complex and silly when a 10 inch wooden dowel works just find, using the allen screws already provided to secure. You'll need a power drill for sure along with a thin drill bit. Also look online to learn how to draw a straight line along the length of the round rail. Then attach the brackets to the rail before you attach the whole unit to the wall. Otherwise you'll be lying on your back and looking up and drilling and screwing the brackets to the rail.
