UPDATE: one week later, the automatic dimmer quit working. It's always on high, even in the dark. Though it only seems to have two settings, low and high. Might be able to fix it with a toggle switch in place of the sensor. Also it doesn't seem to drain the battery significantly, even if left plugged in all the time.========I needed a temperature gauge for my 2012 Forte, since Kia didn't see fit to grace my dash with one. I live in the mountains, so I thought an inclinometer on a grocery getter would be really funny... this thing has both. It looks like something out of Star Wars. The inclinometer has a seemingly infinite refresh rate. It shows extreme angles with every turn, so it's closer to a g-force meter than an inclinometer. It bounces around all over the place as you drive, it's hilarious... When stopped, it appears to be accurate, though. The rest of the data is pulled from OBD2, so you get exactly what the ECU says you have. Voltmeter works fine. Temperature can be set at C or F. It's supposed to have a temperature alarm, but I can't figure out how to set it. Tach works, but it has a refresh rate of about half a second. Neat, but it won't work as a shift indicator. Also the speedo is GPS, not OBD. I know this because my wheels aren't stock, and the dash speedo is 4 mph off above 60. The reading on this HUD reflects that, also with a half-second refresh rate.Brightness is controlled automatically by what looks like a photoresistor at the back. It works better than you'd expect. A little bright at night, but not glaring. It's very bright in full sun, so you'll have no trouble seeing it.It has a barrel power connector so you can just use the inclinometer without the OBD input. USB micro too, but I have no idea what it does. Something about "upgrade functions." The instructions aren't great, and you're kind of on your own.Only real problem, though... there's no obvious way to turn it off. It appears to turn itself off after two minutes of no signal, but as soon as you touch it or something shakes the car, it turns back on. I would not leave it connected overnight. I'm currently wiring a switch into the power wire so I don't have to unplug it all the time. But if you want something that looks like it came from an 80s TV ad, and you feel like gluing it to your dash, this is brilliant. Now I'm gonna go drive and listen to hair metal.
