It works great.

While this timer works well right out of the box, they don’t seem to be well built and only last a couple of seasons before failing. The weak links seem to be the stepper switch and plastic rotor. For the price I would expect this to last longer.

Just like the one we've had for years! Works great! Had multiple pins for setting different times. Will use for more years to come!

This worked great until we took it out of storage to use in year 3. It stopped working and just made an electrical “hum” noise. Until then we had great luck with it, but for what they’re charging the durability should have been better.

I purchased this timer to use with a swimming pool pump primarily because it had a locking plug and I've been happy with Intermatic indoor timers in the past. The manufacturer's quality control on this specific product is terrible! I purchased 2 of these timers and neither would work at all. This mechanical timer uses plastic green (on) and red (off) tabs to set the desired on/off times. The tabs are supposed to engage a paddle-wheel style rotary switch. However, the green and red tabs do not engage the "paddles" on the rotary switch well enough to overcome the switch's friction and to trip the switch to either the on or off position. The timer comes with 4 red and 4 green tabs. I tried all of tabs in numerous positions on the dial. Nothing worked! I thought that maybe this was just a fluke or the result of a bad production batch, so I purchased the same timer from a different Amazon store in an effort to get a timer with a different production date and/or manufacturing facility. The second timer had the exact same problem! I purchased the Woods 50015WD Outdoor 7-Day Heavy Duty Digital Plug-in Timer with a pair of locking plug to standard plug converter adaptors (one M-F and one F-M), and a pair of outdoor extension cord safety covers. The total cost was significantly less than this Intermatic timer. The Woods timer is working great with my pool pump!

I find these timers to be hit or miss - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. One purchased in July 2022, was either not turning off the pool pump, or not turning it on. The timer mechanism will get stuck on the pins or just spin past the pin not tripping the circuit. Now, this one, purchased June 2023, it stopped working pretty much at the 30 day mark when returns could be made. It will turn off and then not turn back on. So I was manually turning it on, knowing at least it would turn off as set. Now, fast forward another two weeks and the dial won't turn at all, it neither turns on or off. These are expensive for them to now work, and when they don't work, it costs you money in the form of your electric bill (when you want it to turn off and it doesn't work), or it costs you time in cleaning the pool when it doesn't turn on when you want it to turn on.If you have to constantly monitor it day and night, what is the point of having a timer?!Not to mention, what is the point of buying a new $90 timer every 4-5 weeks?!?

Mine works well. So far no problems. Hung it on two screws on a post next to the filter, made the plug connections, set the on and off times and that was it. It comes with two sets of dial markers so you can set two on-off times, but I only set one on-off time. There is also an override switch, so that the filter can be turned on and off manually if need be. The timer has a cover to keep the rain out. Well worth the money if you don't have a timer hard wired to your pool filter already. Sometimes we forgot to turn the filter on and often forgot to turn it off.

I have an above ground pool with an in ground pump and filter, and I've had that set up since the original, underpowered pump and little filter gave up the ghost after a few years. I never wanted to hardwire the timer, or to pay an electrician to do it for me. I've bought a few of the regular duty Intermatic timers, and they only last a few years each. I figured it was because it's hot here in Southern California, but I new think it's because I bought an underpowered timer. This timer is for a 20 amp connection (although the ad states it's for 15 amps; it's incorrect), and my one horsepower pump should have a 20 amp connection. No wonder I've had trouble. It comes with a twist-lock outlet and needs that adapter. I bought this timer and the Coleman #09020 12/3 9" generator cord cable, as another reviewer suggested. I didn't realize that I needed the same cable with a male end as well, so that meant a trip to Home Depot. I bought the Rigid brand there, $2 more than the Coleman brand, but it has lights so you know when the circuit is on. Which it was last night, when I looked outside and realized that I left the pump on, manually. So I would recommend buying one cable from Amazon, and one from Home Depot. It's worth $2 to avoid leaving the pump on all night.
