I was looking for a good (not great) set of bench chisels to add to my son's tool chest. These, after a bit work sharpening them, fill the bill well. They are not the best woodworking chisels out there, but someone who has limited need they will be fine. Personally, I'll stick to my set of Narex Ricther chisels, but the Irwin Marples are fine for occasional use.

These replace some older ones.I watched the guy on Project Farm to see what he figured was the best. He rated these very high, so I bought them. He's right, they are very, let me repeat that for emphasis, very sharp. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they don't have metal ends where you strike them with a hammer. Other then that, they are well worth the price.

The handles are plastic. Not full tang. Even using a leather hammer, and after properly sharpening they only chipped and scratched the wood; they didn't cut.

love these, they come sharp from the factory but you really should flatten/true all of your surfaces on a diamond sharpening slab and then resharpen to your desired angle. Once I trued mine and resharpened they cut through pine like soft butter with little effort for making notches.Buy these! the steel is extremely hard but not overly brittle which makes it perfect!

Dull out of the box. A couple of tiny chips/dings on the edge.

Forget the Stanley sweetheart reproductions. These chisels, with some time spent getting the factory edges sharper, are by far the best bang for your buck. No, they are not the Japanese style with a hollowed center, but they work really really well. Best 30 something bucks I've spent on tools in a long time. I've had them for a couple months now and I haven't needed to sharpen them at all (i use them a few times a week with oak making mortise and tennons)

Bought these because I needed a good set of chisels without spending hundreds. I was first led to these from wrangler star and at the price I had to try them. First impressions were good nice feel in the hand good weight. I flattened the backs and honed the bevel. They are wicked sharp and have a mirror polish with vary little time spent probably 15 minutes per chisels. I suggest you but the honing guide and stones or wet dry paper before you buy any chisels, there is no point in buying tools you can't sharpen. I would buy these again if I needed to.

Decent chisels at a good price. A bit of work on the primary bevel, lapped the back a bit, added a secondary bevel without too much fuss and they were good to go. Took a chance on a recommendation and no regrets here. One day I will upgrade to higher quality new or vintage chisels.

After researching many chisel sets on Amazon I decided to purchase this set of three. It is in my favorite color number one, is a nice looking tool number two,and fits comfortably in my hand when I am making using them. An essential quality set for any wood worker!

They are a good starter set, but if you are expecting them to work as well as more expensive chisels, you might be disappointed. All in all, not a bad buy for the price though.
