It works. Adheres to the pressure treated wood. I have not tried to peel it off, so cannot attest to the truth of the picture with "strings of glue", but I hope to never having to peel it off. Goes under the decking and should stay there. So I can say it functions as it supposed to and is easy to use. Good quality and worth the money. As some reviewers for similar products pointed out it is cheaper to use thinner tape and apply two overlapping rows than buying a wider tape. It definitely sticks to itself quite well

This joist tape is absolutely essential if you're building or maintaining a deck – seriously, don't even think about skipping it! It's fantastic for sealing up your deck joists, giving them a crucial layer of protection against moisture and preventing that dreaded wood rot.If you want your deck to last, this is how you do it. Think about it: you're already investing a good amount of money into your deck; this tape helps make that investment go the distance. It's all about making your hard-earned money last by ensuring the structural integrity of your deck for years to come. For the peace of mind and the extended life it gives your deck, this stuff is a no-brainer. Highly recommend!

This tape is of excellent quality. It is thick, durable and adheres very well. The 2" width makes it pretty easy to work with and the 50' foot length means I have plenty of tape for my project with enough left over for other uses. Of which there are many... I'm using this around the "windows" on a steel shed (they are really just re-purposed heavy plastic panels in wooden frames -- they don't actually open and close like the real windows and they are just used to allow extra light as the building is pretty large) for extra reinforcement. I knew this tape would work perfectly on the wood part, but I wasn't sure about the surrounding metal. But, it turned out to be ideal. I used some of the left over tape to wrap around the legs supporting our rabbit hutch. The wood is pretty old but still in good shape and the tape is holding very well. I didn't know about this tape when it was built...The price is more than reasonable given the versatility and quality of this tape. I would definitely buy it again.

I got this Joist Tape for Decking to temporarily repair the screen on a balcony door. Squirrels climbed up the screen and made holes large enough for bugs to get through. As the weather has warmed up, the critter population in my home was also going up. I figured this tape could temporarily block those holes until the screen can be replaced. I am pleasantly surprised by the adhesion of this tape on a screen mesh. I was easily able to tear off pieces small enough to plug the holes without the fix being very obvious. I am pleased with how it easy it was to use and the functional remedy it allowed me to implement. Kudos! Great value for the money.

The Weather Resistant Deck Joist Butyl Tape is 2" X 50' and an excellent value. It is waterproof, anti-corrosive, UV resistant with strong adhesion. This tape performs in temperature ranges of -20 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit. I live in a hot climate so I think that this tape will perform well for me. I keep it in a plastic bag in the house with minimal temperature extremes.I'm not using it for decking but rather for a stray cat problem I'm having. I have two house cats and there's a stray cat that wants to get into our house. It keeps ripping up the weather stripping on our door trying to get in. We've replaced the weather stripping many times, so I'm adding this tape over the new weather stripping to provide an extra layer of protection along with stickiness that the cat may find uncomfortable on its' paws. The deck joist tape is extremely sticky with some excess glue remaining on the sides of the roll so I'm careful to set it down into the plastic bag. The plastic backing comes off easily and the tape adheres well to clean surfaces. It's been on for a few days and so far, no cat scratches. Only time will tell if this tape works to mitigate the problem but I'm hoping that it does.Overall, it's easy to use but I took off a star for the extra bit of glue on the sides of the roll that makes handling this tape a bit sticky.

I've used joist tape on a couple of decks and it's worked very well. I'm starting another deck project and decided to compare 5 brands that are available on Amazon, 4 of those brands were nearly identical quality, and the fifth was, in my opinion not as good. I measured the thickness of the tapes with a digital caliper with the backing still on the tapes. 4 of the tapes had the same thin clear plastic backing and the 5th tape had an even thinner white plastic backing. Here are my evaluations, of course the prices are at the time of this review:Brand Roll size Thickness Best price Comments• SMTapesPro 2" x 50' 0.5mm 1 roll for $9.90 - Very sticky. Best Deal!• Felizshop 2" x 50' 0.5mm 2 rolls for $9.99 Very sticky. Great Deal!• Sikedepro 2" x 50' 0.6mm 4 rolls for $22.02 Very sticky.• Hanotic 2" x 50' 0.6mm 8 rolls for $45.99 Very sticky.• Spargos 1 5/8" x 50' 0.7mm 1 roll for $9.99 Most expensive, least stickyI'd buy any of the first 4 brands, they all worked about the same and the prices were similar. A couple of overall comments - considering how expensive wood has gotten, I think this tape is a good investment to protect your deck sub-structure. The 4 tapes I'm recommending all have backings that are a real pain in the ... to remove. If you need to tape a wider member, like a 4x girder, don't buy special wide tape, it costs a lot and this stuff sticks to itself really well so just put down a couple of widths of this tape.
