This sourdough starter kit is well made. The jars are big, and the wide mouth is great for cleaning and feeding your starter. I personally really love the stretchy band for indicating when you fed the dough. As someone who is very forgetful, I know it will help keep the dough alive. I also love that the spatula is long enough to reach the bottom of the jar. The cotton cover fits perfectly over the jar.Con: The only thing I don't like is the temperature paper. It is very flimsy, so It will not survive being stuck to the side of the jar. Also, because it is flimsy, it will eventually get destroyed by constantly removing and adding it every time. The best way to use it, in my opinion, is to tape it to the jar and hope the tape keeps the paper from getting ruined. However, since it's only an addition, it does not affect the rating and quality of the entire package.

I like the sheer amount of space in this jar. Holds a nice large amount of sourdough in it. I really like the band too that comes with it to keep track of when the starter was started. I don't understand the temperature strip and it doesn't seem to work all that well. Overall, this is a pretty good product.

These jars are great for sourdough starters. You can have an active starter in one and always have an extra jar in case you ever want to switch it over to a clean jar. There are markings on the jar to measure your starter and a band to put on the jar that makes it easy to see how much the starter grew since its last feeding. There is a thermometer so you can see your room temperature. I like that these jar have a very wide opening at the top which makes it easier to stir the starter when you feed it. I highly recommend this set of starter jars.

I’m new to sourdough bread baking . I was looking for a good vessel to make the starter. These are wide enough and tall enough to make the starter. It is also nice that hey come with the elastic/cloth covers to allow the gases to escape and keep bugs out.The long skinny spatulas work well for mixing the starter and scraping down the sides. The stick on thermometer is nice but I haven’t really seen it working much, I can’t tell if it is reading any temperature. The elastic ring for marking the last time the starter was fed is very nice. When the starter is all done being created the metal screw on lid keeps it fresh in the fridge. After using the starter and it gets down the second jar can be used to start two new batches.This is a great sourdough starter kit. I would highly recommend this set.

This set of sourdough starter jars has been a helpful for me as a sourdough newbie, although you could probably get the same results with a regular glass jar, a rubber band, and a towel. I do think the items in this set have some utility beyond that, so I have overall enjoyed using this set. The two glass jars are nicely marked with volume increments to track growth, and you can stick the thermometer sticker on it to track temperature. The thermometer sticker (it works like a mood ring) is interesting but doesn't stick on super well, and somewhat comes off with washing. The elastic band with days of the week is nice to track both growth and feeding, although if you feed it at the same time every day, you probably don't need the date markings. The spatulas and cloth lids are my absolute favorite part of the set. I do wish the spatulas were a little bit longer, but they work very well for stirring and scraping the starter. I did manage to grow my first starter in these jars, so yes they do work. Perhaps the set is worth it if you want dedicated jars for starter, and want all the bells and whistles of the set. They could also be a nice gift for someone looking to get into the hobby.

There is literally nothing negative to say about this item. You can track the feeding schedule AND temperature at all times. There's a mesh cover that makes it breathable but also keeps it safe. The container is glass, not plastic. Really, the only thing that could make it better would be it's own warming mat. I absolutely love this item. Takes my sourdough game to another level. I feel fancy using it. Highly recommend.
