For all the key features it has, this does deliver. Setting it up was quite straightforward using the Tuya app (you can also use the Smart Home app if you're in the USA, they're basically the same) and programming different number codes, fingerprints, and IC cards in the app was simple. All the possible ways to unlock it work, but the fingerprint and IC card options are what really stand out to me as being the most convenient; you will never forget your fingers (I would hope) which makes the fingerprint option excellent if you're forgetful, while with the IC card fob, all you have to do is dangle it in front of the lock without having to mess with it which is ideal when your hands are full. It does not need any additional devices or gateways in order to connect to Wi-Fi, which means you can monitor and change settings for this lock basically anywhere your phone has internet connection. Unfortunately, if you're planning to install the lock in a place that doesn't have Wi-Fi (particularly 2.4 GHz), you cannot use the app whatsoever and would have to rely on manual set up (which is actually not so bad, just a bit more tedious and less convenient than the app). If you already have a deadbolt installed at your door, you don't need to do any additional drilling or whatever to switch it out as this seems to be compatible with your standard deadbolt. However, be sure that you have enough flat space around your deadbolt (especially above) since this lock is obviously bigger than the standard deadbolt. The design is very sleek, one of the best I've seen with its slick black surface and gold trimmings. The only truly negative thing I can say about this lock is the fact that it uses 8 AA batteries and it only lasts for 8 months. You can use the emergency USB C port, but since it's only supposed to be used during emergencies, it's on the outside lock and probably not a good idea to just keep that plugged in indefinitely. If there was also a port on the inside lock, I could see myself just leaving it plugged in with a long USB C cable, but alas that is not the case. Due to the battery issue, I decided to not use this lock for my everyday purposes, which kinda sucks because it looks really nice and has a lot of great features.

My parents wanted an electronic lock on their back door, so I installed this set for them. The control panel and included lever are sleek and modern looking. The lock was easy to install—just follow the directions. The old manual deadbolt hole was just big enough that I was able to jiggle the lock housing into the home without having to do any drilling.This deadbolt worked smoothly and the unit is feature rich. You can use a programmed code, an NFC tag, a fingerprint reader, or the backup key to unlock the deadbolt. Programming was straightforward but I was unable to pair the lock with the smart app.This unit requires 8 AA batteries to operate, which I thought was excessive. Most electronic deadbolt lock only require 4. So I was hoping that 8 batteries would make the unit last extra long. However, my Mom just told me she’s getting a battery low warning already and it’s been only a couple of weeks in operation with new batteries.One other potential issue you might face with this type of lock is confusion about how to engage or disengage the deadbolt. My parents got confused because the control display blanks out and you have to “wake it up” to see the numbers. For most people, several ways to retract the deadbolt allows for versatility. But for others who are not electronic savvy, it might be too much. I ended up activating the “auto lock” feature so that the deadbolt engages on its own after a time delay.

Coming and going was getting chaotic and I'm trying to streamline systems. Here are a few ways this has simplified my life:*I no longer have to worry about being the last person out of the house in the morning to be sure the door is locked; it locks itself. Just not having to balance my coffee on my knee while cradling a phone, double fisting bags, and clenching something or another between my teeth while locking the door is a sanity and time saver.*I no longer have to get on my kid to get the schoolbag in the house, lunch bag unpacked and dishes into the sink, and started on chores before going out to play with friends. My child likes to hop out of the car while I'm checking mail and makes the excuse that the door is locked as to why chores can't be done -- leading to running around like chickens with their heads cut off when it's time to pack everything up again.*I no longer have to worry about hiding a key for grandparents and babysitters while shielding said key from the prying neighborhood eyes surrounding the fishbowl that is my home.*I no longer have to constantly pester my child to lock the door after coming and going only to find out in the morning that it was left unlocked all night. (Let's be real, I'm to blame half the time.)I could go on and on. This door has every option for opening, locking, setting and forgetting that you could possibly need -- AND it looks good. Everything works well; I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Such a pain with tiny screws I have been trying get screwed in for a couple hours! Cannot get them to catch! So tiny I can barely hold them without dropping them in the floor six times! Maybe tomorrow I can get them screwed in. At least they are in the door to my garage and not to the open outside!

Received this and immediately had my husband install it as our existing one no longer worked. He’s a general contractor so he of course installed it in minutes and then I programmed it within minutes as well. It looks good and works perfect! It says it can work with 4 batteries but if you use 8, it’ll work even longer so we put in all 8 batteries. Thrilled to no longer have to walk in through our main door to the mud room!
