I had been using the old standard pad of sheep’s hide for holding my flies after use to dry off and I’ll admit I usually left them there between fishing outings. But the lambs wool often became entangled with the hook barb and I often had no choice but to pull the fly away and often it came away with a bit of the wool attached. This handy fly holder has slots built in to the foam so all you need to do is gently push the hook into the slot and it securely keeps the fly upright so it can dry or be readily available. To remove, gently lift at the hook eye and the “J” hook end lifts out of the slot and it’s ready to tie on. It seems to be a closed cell EVA foam material because the hooks don’t catch on the foam. So much better than my lambs wool pad but I’ll keep that for nostalgia purposes. The foam pad also has slots at the edges which I guess would be handy for larger flies and maybe wet nymphs. It come with a band and simple plastic clamp for attaching it to the fishing vest. It also came with a thin plastic covered metal cable about 5 inches long that connected back to itself with a threaded ring. I found that handy since it gave me a secure spot to both attach the foam fly keeper and a secure way to attach my Walton’s thumb when more serious fly maintenance then can be accomplished with simple nail clippers is required.

I've recently started fly-fishing with dropper rigs (nymph on bottom, dry on top) after many years of exclusively fishing dry flies. Like a lot of people I have finally given in because it works so much better for most fishing conditions! But, dealing with changing them out is a huge hassle, since you're re-tying an entire rig and throwing away a lot of tippet material each time. With this unit, I can pre-tie a couple of dropper rigs and have them handy in my waist pack or hanging off my lanyard. It helps them well organized and depending on the length of rigs, it can easily hold several different setups (I will usually vary the lengths and the dry fly, switching between BWO, hoppers, Chernobyl ants, foam bodied stimulators, etc.). The only knock on this is that I don't love the clip - it reminds me too much of a badge you'd wear at a conference or trade show. Because I usually just carry it in a waist pack, I removed the clip so no big deal there. (you can also remove the trade show badge clip and replace it with a simple loop, which makes it compatible with zingers or other type of attachments). You can't beat the price - there are few things you can buy for flyfishing that will improve your game as much as this for this reasonable of a price.

I am not just a fly fisherman and I add droppers to several of the fishing arrangements. Previously, I have been keeping the droppers separated in small plastic packages. Now this tool helps me to keep them together, easy to find, easy to get what I am looking for. I will use plastic packages for somethings, but this added another option.

Definitely recommend this little keeper. It keep your terminal fly rigs secure and close. Allows you to spend more time fishing and less time rigging. It comes with a clip and a ring so you can choose the way you attach it. Super light weight and it is small enough to attach just about anywhere. What a handy little keeper!

I picked this up for when I take a new angler fly fishing. I can put a few flies on here and clip it to their vest. Its a quick and economical solution for those types of scenarios.

. This is a handy fly-fishing accessory for anyone using large flies and who fly fishes using the dry dropper method.Pros: this foam pad has a button snap so you can snap the holder on your pack, but what is really smart is a threaded wire loop that is included. You can snap on this foam fly holder and then run this threaded wire through a button-hole and truly RELAX and KNOW that your flies are not going to fall out of your pocket and float down the river if you bend over. The foam holder itself has small holes so the hooks and flies stay on! It's a great accessory that allows for a fisherman to have easy and convenient access to switch droppers. Overall 5 stars.

I like using dry dropper rigs so I can fish different levels in the water column at the same time. In the past, I've struggled with a way to keep pre-tied rigs organized and ready for use. This keeper solves that problem. I can tie several rigs for different conditions and keep them all organized. This gives me the ability to quickly change out rigs on the water. The material holds the flies and line securely and easy to access. Perfect solution to make my time on the water more productive.
