Great metal replacement. Remove 3 nuts, remove old one, place new one on and install the nuts. Run the pull cord through the handle loop. Within 5 minutes you are back to using the mower.

I could have saved a few dollars and bought the generic replacment for my Kohler engine. However, after I realized my original starter assembly lasted almost 8 years, I decided it wasn't worth trying to pinch pennies.This is an original Kohler assembly and fits perfectly. Simply remove a few screws, pop the old one off and new one on, and I was back mowing in less than 20 minutes.

Perfect fix, just like the original starter assembly. This part replaced the starter assembly on my XTX650 Kohler motor which is used on my Lawn Boy 10739 self-propelled motor. Worked with the first pull and has always engaged unlike what I read about some off brand starter assemblies. I was worried how much rope would be in the starter assembly, since my pull handle resting position is located 2/3 down the mower handle, almost by the hand-controls for the mower. But it had plenty of rope just like the original.

Arrived in the mail on the day expected. A couple of minutes with a socket wrench to remove the old starter and install the new one and I was all set. I was probably mowing the yard less than 15 minutes after the starter arrived (a good thing, as the lawn had really grown while we were on vacation). The price seemed reasonable.
